The book shows principles and applications of the most distributed
technique used for water analysis. The central laboratory of
Greater Cairo Drinking Water Company (GCWC) uses this important
technique and applies the analytical methods recorded in the
standard methods for water and wastewater examination. This
laboratory represents nucleus and origin of many reference
laboratories of water analysis in Egypt. Wael Mahmoud and his team
of the researchers modified the scientific cooperation between the
central laboratory of GCWC and the national research centre. Wael
and his team used the chromatographic techniques in the central
laboratory to make their ideas and researches in field of the water
examination. They added new concepts in the technical uses of the
chromatographic techniques and without scientific experience of
this team, the central laboratory still do the routine and
traditional analytical work without any improvement. The book
confirms the concept which explains that it is impossible for the
traditional technical work to progress without science.
The current study added complete idea about different reasons
related to increasing the disinfection by-products (DBPs). It also
evaluated ratio of the individual by-products to the total organic
halogen. The study suggested new methods to minimize some of these
by-products. It also added new idea about effect of the different
chlorine doses on the electrophoretic protein pattern. The most
important goal of the study is suggestion of new disinfecting agent
without DBPs to replace chlorine in the difficult conditions. The
study covered effect of the new disinfecting agent on the
electrophoretic DNA pattern and the different body functions at
level of the experimental animals and compared it with effect of
chlorine. Finally, the authors' group added new experimental idea
to change the traditional concepts of water treatment and water
analysis to be applicable in all water treatment plants.
The rst goal of the livestock production is the delivery of safe
foods for human consumption taking into account the welfare of the
animal and respect for the environment. The poultry industry has
become an important economic activity in many countries. In
large-scale rearing facilities, where poultry are exposed to
stressful conditions, problems related to diseases and
deterioration of environmental conditions often occur and result in
serious economic losses. Prevention and control of diseases have
led during recent decades to a substantial increase in the use of
veterinary medicines. However, the utility of antimicrobial agents
as a preventive measure has been questioned, given extensive
documentation of the evolution of antimicrobial resistance among
pathogenic bacteria. So, the possibility of antibiotics ceasing to
be used as growth stimulants for poultry and the concern about the
side-effects of their use as therapeutic agents has produced a
climate in which both consumer and manufacturer are looking for
alternatives. Probiotics are being considered to fill this gap and
already some farmers are using them in preference to antibiotics.
No doubt exists concerning the economic impact of mycotoxins. The
studies evidenced that economic losses occur at all levels of food
and feed production, including crop and animal production,
processing, and distribution. Even during favorable climatic
periods, millions of dollars are lost as a consequence of crop
contamination .For all these reasons, prevention, decontamination,
and detoxification of mycotoxins have been considered issues of
great importance. Studies have never stopped to evaluate the
efficacy of the available detoxification methods and to develop
recent innovations in this field to reduce the bioavailability of
mycotoxins to poultry and farm animals. The present work is one of
these attempts which was designed to investigate;-the effectiveness
of using three anti-aflatoxic agents with different mode of
actions. When added to AF-contaminated diets singly or in
combination. The three agents investigated included; a)-Hydrated
sodium calcium aluminosilicate (HSAS) as an adsorbent which
demonstrated a high affinity for aflatoxins, b)-Mannan
oligosaccharide (Bio-Mos(r)) as a biological derivative,
c)-c)-Radish extract as an antioxidant agent rich in peroxidase
enzy
This book aims at examining the most important trend in Faulkner's
The Sound and the Fury and Light in August, that is, the spirit of
anger as the essential motive for all actions. The book focuses
only on these two novels, because they are psychological novels
that are concerned primarily with the mental and emotional lives of
their characters rather than the external events of their plots.
The elements of the spirit of anger pervade all parts of The Sound
and the Fury: its themes, structure and characters.; and Light in
August is not far from portraying decadence of the American South.
Their characters are spirited of anger and rebellion, the book
studies the causes that made their characters full of anger,
particularly in the characters Quentin, Caddy, Ben, Jason, Joe
Christmas and Joanna. Burden. Finally this work has examined the
spirit of anger by analyzing the two novels structurally and
thematically through the spirit of the characters' anger and
alienation who are full of wrath and rebellion.
A translation from the Sudanese of Taha's major work in which he
outlines the main features of his teachings. Mahmoud Mohamed Taha
had long been known for his radical reinterpretation of Islam. His
reputation, along with his vigorous opposition to the Islamization
program, ultimately led to his demise
Schools of Education are emerging academic units in higher
educational institutions in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations.
Most of these teacher training programs are in their infancy
stages. Modern day educational discourse across teacher training
programs globally, including the Middle East and in the GCC, have
predominantly focused on student-centered approaches to teaching
and learning. This approach to teacher training is infused with
critical scholarship and marks a shift away from positivist
approaches to educational scholarship. Integrating critical
scholarship in GCC teacher training programs brings about a number
of challenges, as this approach to education is a departure from
traditional cultural and social norms for schooling in the region.
This multidisciplinary volume highlights some of the challenges and
complexities that inevitably arise from this paradox. Professors,
researchers, and specialists working in the GCC have contributed to
this volume with the intent of empowering educators with authentic
and contextualized research and insights to advance collective
understanding of the complexities and challenges of teacher
education and training in the GCC. Ultimately, this work will serve
as a practical tool and resource that can be employed by schools of
education to provide authentic insights, strategies, and research
to further develop teacher training in the GCC and globally.
