Double bill of sci-fi action adventures from director Roland
Emmerich. In 'Independence Day' (1996), massive spaceships are
spotted hovering above planet Earth and the world stands watching
in awe and wonder. This amazement, however, soon turns to terror as
the aliens launch an all-out attack, devastating the planet's major
cities. As the Earth's survivors try to come to terms with what has
happened, a group of Americans including President Thomas J.
Whitmore (Bill Pullman), fighter pilot Steve Hiller (Will Smith)
and computer boffin David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) decide to fight
back. In the sequel, 'Independence Day: Resurgence' (2016), two
decades have passed since the alien invasion and the world has
pooled together to form Earth Space Defence (ESD), a global
organisation designed to protect the planet from any further
attacks. With ESD personnel stationed on Earth, the Moon and Mars,
they have spent the last 20 years developing technology that was
salvaged from the previous attack. Before their defeat, however,
the aliens sent a distress signal back to their planet asking for
assistance in the form of a more powerful army. When the aliens
receive the message they prepare for attack, and this time they are
taking no chances.

Adam Wingard directs this US thriller in which an ex-soldier causes
mayhem within a family. David (Dan Stevens) knocks at the door of
the Peterson family and informs mother Laura (Sheila Kelley) that
he was a close friend of Caleb (Chris Harding), the son she lost in
combat. Welcomed into the family home, David is initially granted a
hostile reception by Caleb's brother and sister, Luke (Brendan
Meyer) and Anna (Maika Monroe). However, David's handy ability to
buy booze and deal out violent retribution to bullies quickly
ingratiates him with the teenagers. That is, until an usual
sequence of events raises suspicions that David may not be who he
claims. Will any light be shed on the guest's mysterious past?

Sofia Coppola directs this drama, based on real events, about a
group of celebrity-obsessed teens who rob the homes of their idols
in order to emulate their lifestyles. Bored living a life of
relative obscurity in L.A., high school friends Nicki (Emma
Watson), Marc (Israel Broussard), Rebecca (Katie Chang), Chloe
(Claire Julien) and Sam (Taissa Farmiga) decide to grab their own
slice of the high life by breaking into the homes of the rich and
famous. But as the group become flushed with success after amassing
ever more sizeable hauls, their continuing hunger for designer
labels, coupled with feelings of invincibility, inevitably sets
them on a collision course with the authorities.
