How to Use the Snap-On MT2500 With the ever increasing electronic
content in today's vehicles, the scan tool has become the tool of
choice to look into the ECM or module functions. The scanner is the
only window into what the different modules are doing. One thing's
to use an oscilloscope or GMM, but to know what the computer is
actually interpreting, your only choice is this piece of equipment.
This book is different than other book on the MT2500. This book
actually teaches you how to use the equipment and interpret the PID
datastream. This book also borrows from some of our other
publications, but geared towards the MT2500. We also expose the use
of other diagnostic equipment and how to use them together. In
today's automotive repair shop the technician has to be able to use
the equipment and draw relational characteristics between the
signal. It is from these relations that the tech arrives to the
true repair. It's not just using the MT2500. It's using the MT2500
and see if the scope and multi-meter readings also support the
repair conclusion. Snap-On has over the years developed into a
leader in diagnostic equipment. With that in mind, lets learn to
use the MT2500 to its fullest and become a profitable, top
technician. Remember, learning to use your equipment will also
teach you a great deal of diagnostics.

Make Your Own Diagnostic Equipment (MYODE) This book, "Make Your
Own Diagnostic Equipment" came about from the need of many readers
and viewers to be able to make and maintain fairly simple
diagnostic gadgets. It is meant to show and guide the professional
technician and DIY mechanic on how to make these gadgets. In many
cases, due to the nature of the equipment industry, it is very
expensive or virtually impossible to get these tools. The reason
being is that often times tool makers don't see a profit in making
these simple but effective gadgets. Most, if not all of these
tools, are invaluable in diagnosing modern automotive systems. You
can estimate that having one of these tools, at the right time when
needed, will cut your diagnostic time by at least 50%. Of course,
knowing how to use it is also important. However, by definition if
you've already studied how the gadget works, how to build it an
also ended up building it yourself, you've already passed the
learning curve and chances are you'll know how to use it. At the
very least, reading this book will put you in a much better
position to also asses diagnostic issues and on the use of other
important tools of automotive diagnostics. It is our hope with this
work to enlighten the professional and DIY mechanic on the use,
construction and operation of modern automotive diagnostic gadgets.

This book, Continuously Variable Transmission Systems - CVT of
which there's also a companion DVD by the same title, was a long
time in the making. Various transmissions were purchased with the
specific task of disassembling then to gather the needed resources
(photos, diagrams, etc) to develop this CVT series. The information
seen here is found nowhere else. You can purchase a specific CVT
service manual, which will guide you during the repair, but won't
tell you how a CVT works. Here, you can get the needed procedures
and operating information to guide you during repairs in the field.
This book and it's companion DVD video forms a unique training
resource, which you can use to gain a complete CVT understanding.

This book, Auto-Electric Repairs Explained of which there's also a
companion DVD by the same title, is a dedicated work centered in
automotive electric diagnostics. 99% of the auto-repair duties for
an auto technician will be of the electric nature, not necessarily
electronics. Electronic is also a part of auto repairs, but covered
on another couse-manual-DVD by the same author. This book
concentrates on the techniques relevant to repairing open and short
circuits on actuators, such as motors, power feed, grounds, and
other electrical faults. Techniques such as current rampping,
voltage drop, scope usage, sound tracing, current draw test and
many others are covered. This book and our other electronics
courses 1 & 2 are a must have for any tech or DIY interested in
delving into the world of electric and electronic auto repair.
Special thanks given to all the techs and shops who supported my
investigations on this technology, and to my wife for her
support...God bless...
This book, Automotive Variable Valve Timing & Lift Explained of
which there's also a companion DVD by the same title, is a one and
only up to date work that covers automotive electronic variable
valve timing and lift. The way things are shaping up, car makers
are doing away with the throttle butterfly valve and relying on
valve lift to accelerate the engine. Yes, no more throttle in the
near future. This technology has matured and is here. Almost all
car manufacturers are using some form of variable valve lift.
Variable valve timing on the other hand is an even older technology
and present on almost all cars today. This book and companion
DVD-Video goes deep into the operation of both, variable valve lift
and timing. It explains the principles according to each
manufacturer. This is one area of technology where it really pays
to know the system and the system changes drastically depending on
the vehicle's brand name. Various systems such as Mercedes-Benz
Camtronic, BMW Valvetronic, Variocam, Ford CTA, Toyota Neo VVL,
Honda V-Tec and many others are covered. This is by far, the most
complete book of its kind for this particular technology. It'll
give you the knowledge needed to understand these systems. So enjoy
and learn... Table of Contents .Engine Camshaft Timing

In this section, we'll cover diagnostic equipment usage. As an
automotive activity, diagnosing modern vehicles has become
extremely high-tech oriented and difficult. Few professions involve
so much from their practitioner. A modern technician has to master
a multitude of disciplines, including electronics, optics,
mechanics, programming, computer science and many others. Such
highly technological activities require a keen analytical mind. But
as in any human endeavors, proficiency comes with practice and
patience. The techniques presented in this section combined with
the necessary hands on practice are designed to sharpen the
technician's abilities to perform profitable and fast diagnostics.
With patience and practice, any vehicle can be repaired. Enjoy

Automotive Vehicle Strategies and ECM Modes (Diagnostic Strategies
of Modern Automotive Systems) By Mandy Concepcion This book is
divided into two sections, "Vehicle Operational Strategies," which
detail what's needed for and engine to start. In other words, this
section concentrates on the signals needed for a particular
manufacturer to make the engine run. These signal strategies are
true regardless of the system and the section simply zeros in on
the actual signal, whether it's a distributor, DIS, COP, etc. The
second section is the "ECM operational modes" and goes into details
on why and how the ECM does what it needs to do to run the engine.
In other words, this section has to do with the behavior of the ECM
according to outside conditions. VEHICLE OPERATIONAL STRATEGIES
This section is designed to serve as a functional guide to some of
the more difficult to diagnose faults. It basically came about from
the trial and error experimentation with different systems, during
the diagnostic process. It is not a study section per se, but will
definitely enlighten the technician as to the logics of different
systems on the market today. Hopefully, it will serve to pinpoint
the source of an actual problem. ECM OPERATIONAL MODES In this
section, we'll take a look at automotive OPERATIONAL MODES. The
section deals with the specifics of internal ECM programming
strategies. The knowledge gained here will aide the modern
technician is deciphering why is the ECM functioning in a specific
way. This section, as in other parts of this book, helps to answer
the technician's diagnostic basic question "What is the ECM seeing,
that's causing it to do what it does?" Table of Contents VEHICLE

(GDI) Gasoline Direct Injection Explained (A Gasoline Direct
Injection Technology Series) By Mandy Concepcion This book, "(GDI)
Gasoline Direct Injection Explained" covers the major points of
this technology. It is a must first book for anyone interested in
updating and understanding the finer points of this technology. All
the major auto makers are now releasing new models with GDI
injection. This technology is easy and faster to manufacture, now
that the engineering has pretty much been polished. Gone are the
carbon issues of the past. GDI has matured and is here to stay.
This book will cover sensors and feedback programs that only GDI
systems employ. There are some, but few similarities between GDI
and PFI, which we'll cover here. The main differences are in the
high pressures needed and the way injectors are triggered (not with
12 volts). Other issues that may render a GDI inoperative are the
NOx systems, which is also covered in this book. We hope this book
serves as a launching point for a complete and proper GDI
Technology training regime. Enjoy. Table of contents (GDI) Gasoline

How to Use The Snap-On MODIS With the ever increasing electronic
content in today's vehicles, the scan tool has become the tool of
choice to look into the ECM or module func-tions. The scanner is
the only window into what the different modules are doing. One
thing's to use an oscilloscope or GMM, but to know what the
computer is actually interpreting, your only choice is this piece
of equip-ment. This book is different than other book on the MODIS.
This book actually teaches you how to use the equipment and
interpret the PID datastream. This book also borrows from some of
our other publications, but geared towards the Modis. We also
expose the use of other diagnostic equipment and how to use them
together. In today's automotive repair shop the technician has to
be able to use the equipment and draw relational char-acteristics
between the signal. It is from these relations that the tech
ar-rives to the true repair. It's not just using the Modis. It's
using the Modis and see if the scope and multi-meter readings also
support the repair conclusion. Snap-On has over the years developed
into a leader in diagnostic equip-ment. With that in mind, lets
learn to use the MODIS to its fullest and be-come a profitable, top
technician. Remember, learning to use your equip-ment will also
teach you a great deal of diagnostics. Table of Contents Basic
