In more detail, our intentions were and still are to: 1. Bring the practice-oriented Graph Transformation community together 2. Study and integrate di?erent Graph Transformation approaches 3. Build a bridge between academia and industry In addition, AGTIVE 2007 laid a special emphasis on the role that graph transformation techniques play for model-driven system engineering languages, tools, and methods including the well-known standards of the Object Mana- ment Group (OMG). The ?rst AGTIVE symposium took place at Kerkrade, The Netherlands, in 1999. Its proceedings appeared as vol. 1779 of the Springer LNCS series. The second symposium, AGTIVE 2003, was held in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. The proceedings were published as LNCS 3062. The conference location for AGTIVE 2007 was a historic site again: the Schlosshotel Bad Wilhelmsh] ohe, whichis nextto the Wilhelmsh] ohe Palaceabovethecity inthe famousBergpark of Kassel, right in the center of Germany. IMPROVE stands for "Information Technology Support for Collaborative and Distributed Design Processes in Chemical Engineering" and is a large joint project of research institutions at RWTH Aachen University. This volume summarizes the results after 9 years of cooperative research work.

The focus of IMRPOVE is on understanding, formalizing, evaluating, and, consequently, improving design processes in chemical engineering. In particular, IMPROVE focuses on conceptual design and basic engineering, where the fundamental decisions concerning the design or redesign of a chemical plant are undertaken. Design processes are analyzed and evaluated in collaboration with industrial partners.

During its 30-year existence, the International Workshop on Graph-Theoretic Concepts in Computer Science has become a distinguished and high-quality computer science event. The workshop aims at uniting theory and practice by demonstrating how graph-theoretic concepts can successfully be applied to v- ious areas of computer science and by exposing new theories emerging from applications. In this way, WG provides a common ground for the exchange of information among people dealing with several graph problems and working in various disciplines. Thereby, the workshop contributes to forming an interdis- plinary research community. The original idea of the Workshop on Graph-Theoretic Concepts in C- puter Science was ingenuity in all theoretical aspects and applications of graph concepts, wherever applied. Within the last ten years, the development has strengthened in particular the topic of structural graph properties in relation to computational complexity. This workshop has become pivotal for the c- munity interested in these areas.An aimspeci?c to the 30thWG was to support the central role of WG in both of the prementioned areas on the one hand and on the other hand to promote its originally broader scope. The 30th WG was held at the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef, which serves as the main meeting point of the German Physical Society. Graphs constitute well-known, well-understood, and frequently used means to depict networks of related items in di?erent application domains. Various typesofgraphtransformationapproaches- alsocalledgraphgrammarsorgraph rewriting systems - have been proposed to specify, recognize, inspect, modify, anddisplaycertainclassesofgraphsrepresentingstructuresofdi?erentdomains. Research activities based on Graph Transformations (GT for short) cons- tute a well-established scienti?c discipline within Computer Science. The int- national GT research community is quite active and has organized international workshops and the conference ICGT 2002. The proceedings of these events, a three volume handbook on GT, and books on speci?c approaches as well as big application projects give a good documentation about research in the GT ?eld (see the list at the end of the proceedings). The intention of all these activities has been (1) to bring together the - ternational community in a viable scienti?c discussion, (2) to integrate di?erent approaches, and (3) to build a bridge between theory and practice.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the International Workshop on Graph Transformation with Industrial Relevance, AGTIVE'99, held in Kerkrade, The Netherlands, in June 1999.
The 28 revised full papers presented went through an iterated process of reviewing and revision. Also included are three invited papers, 10 tool demonstrations, a summary of a panel discussion, and lists of graph transformation systems and books on graph transformations. The papers are organized in sections on modularization concepts, distributed systems modeling, software architecture: evolution and reengineering, visual graph transformation languages, visual language modeling and tool development, knowledge modeling, image recognition and constraint solving, process modeling and view integration, and visualization and animation tools.

This coherently written book is the final report on the IPSEN project on Integrated Software Project Support Environments devoted to the integration of tools for the development and maintenance of large software systems.
The theoretical and application-oriented findings of this comprehensive project are presented in the following chapters: Overview: introduction, classification, and global approach; The outside perspective: tools, environments, their integration, and user interface; Internal conceptual modeling: graph grammar specifications; Realization: derivation of efficient tools, Current and future work, open problems; Conclusion: summary, evaluation, and vision. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 21st International Workshop on Graph-Theoretic Concepts in Computer Science, WG '95, held in Aachen, Germany, in June 1995. The WG workshop series contributes to integration in computer science by applying graph theoretical concepts in various areas as well as by taking up problems from practical applications and treating them theoretically.
The book presents 30 carefully refereed revised papers selected from 52 submissions and reflects current activities in the field of computer science oriented graph theory, its computational aspects and its application.

The aim of this workshop series is to contribute to integration in computer science by applying graph-theoretic concepts. Commonalities between various fields of specialization in computer science may be detected by applying graph-theoretic concepts. The workshops are unusual in that they combine theoretical aspects with practice and applications. Applications dealt with in this volume include the use of graph-theoretic concepts in distributed and parallel computation, VLSI, CAD, software engineering, computer graphics, data structures, and computational geometry.

The generic term "graph-grammars" refers to a variety of methods for specifying (possibly infinite) sets of graphs or sets of maps. The area of graph-grammars originated in the late 60s motivated by considerations concerning pattern recognition - since then the list of areas which have interacted with the development of graph-grammars has grown quite impressively. It includes pattern recognition, software specification and development, VLSI layout schemes, data bases, lambda-calculus, analysis of concurrent systems, massively parallel computer architectures, incremental compilers, computer animation, complexity theory, developmental biology, music composition, representation of physical solids, and many others. This volume is based on the contributions presented at the third international workshop on graph-grammars and their applications, held in Warrenton, Virginia, USA in December 1986. Aiming at the best possible representation of the field not all of the papers presented at the meeting appear in this volume and some of the papers from this volume were not presented at the workshop. The volume consists of two parts: Part I presents tutorial introductions to a number of basic graph and map rewriting mechanisms. Part II contains technical contributions. This collection of papers provides the reader with an up-to-date overview of current trends in graph-grammars.

Die drei vorangegangenen Fachtagungen Uber dieses Gebiet fanden in MUnchen (1971), SaarbrUcken (1972) und Kiel (1974) statt. Die Aufforderung zur Vortragsanmeldung enthielt die folgenden Fach- gebiete: Compiler und Interpreter Sprachen fUr Systemprogrammierung Dialogsprachen Programmiersprachen fUr besondere Anwendungen ProzeBrechnersprachen Erweiterbare Sprachen Nichtprozedurale Sprachen Programmiermethodik Semantik und Verifikation. Sie fand ein erstaunlich starkes Echo. Der ProgrammausschuB bestand aus den Mitgliedern des Fachausschusses 2 der GI: Prof. Dr. K. Alber (Braunschweig) W. Frielinghaus (Konstanz) Prof. Dr. H. Langmaack (Kiel) Prof. Dr. M. Paul (MUnchen) Prof. Dr. B. Schlender (Kiel) Prof. Dr. G. SeegmUller (Munchen). Er war bemuht, diejenigen Vortrage auszuwahlen, die am ehesten den gegenwartigen Stand der Forschung und Entwicklung wiedergeben. Die bereits im Tagungsband einer fruheren GI-Jahrestagung beklagten Ver- standigungsschwierigkeiten zwischen Forschern und Anwendern sin- wie das Verfahren der Vortragsauswahl zeigte - noch lange nicht uber- wunden. 1m Vergleich zu den frtiheren Tagungsbanden stieg jedoch die Anzahl der Vortrage, die den Anwendungen zuzurechnen sind. Dennoch bleibt fur weitere Fachtagungen in dieser Richtung noch viel zu tun. Den Vortragenden sei an dieser Stelle fur ihre Beitrage gedankt. Der Erfolg einer Tagung hangt in erster Linie von ihnen abo Daneben gilt unser Dank den Sitzungsleitern und den Mitgliedern des Programmkomi- tees, sowie den Mitarbeitern des Lehrstuhls fur Informatik II (Pro- IV gramrnier- und Dialogsprachen, sowie ihre Compiler) der Friedrich-Ale- xander-Universitat Erlangen-Nlirnberg, die alle bei der Organisation der Tagung geholfen :1aben.

Das Buch behandelt den zentralen Bereich "Entwurf" der Softwaretechnik, namlich der Erstellung und Modifikation von Softwarearchitekturen, um so die Struktur eines Softwaresystems vor ihrer Detailrealisierung festzulegen. Die Softwarearchitektur enthalt alle Grundlagen fur Qualitatseigenschaften des spater entstehenden Softwaresystems, insbesondere fur Wartbarkeit. Auf dieser Betrachtungsebene finden ferner alle substantiellen Uberlegungen zur Wiederverwendbarkeit statt. Hierzu werden geeignete Konzepte auf Architekturebene eingefuhrt, eine geeignete Architekturbeschreibungssprache vorgestellt, und es wird der methodische Umgang mit dieser Sprache geubt. Zur Ubersicht werden graphische Architekturdiagramme fur das Gesamtsystem zur Detailbeschreibung der Module textueller Beschreibungen verwendet. Die vorgestellten Konzepte bzw. Sprachen haben ihren Ursprung in Programmiersprachen. Trotzdem ist das Buch programmiersprachenunabhangig. Um dies zu zeigen, wird die Ubertragung der Konzepte in FORTRAN, C und Pascal vorgefuhrt. Das Buch ist fur den professionellen Software-Praktiker geschrieben. Es betont die softwaretechnische Bedeutung der objektbasierten Architekturmodellierung und ist sowohl kursbegleitend einsetzbar als auch zum Selbststudium geeignet.

Trotz der uberragenden Bedeutung der Ingenieurwissenschaften fur den Wirtschafts- und Wissenschaftsstandort Deutschland herrscht Mangel an Ingenieuren. Auf einer gemeinsam von Politik, Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft veranstalteten Fachkonferenz (14./15.07.2008) wurde eine Verpflichtungserklarung zur Zukunft der Ingenieurwissenschaften beschlossen. Diese dokumentiert das Buch zusammen mit allen Vortragen und bietet damit Argumentationshilfen, Fakten, Fallstudien und nicht zuletzt Anregungen fur die Zukunft der ingenieurwissenschaftlichen Ausbildung."

Dieses Buch beschreibt die Ergebnisse bzw. Ziele zweier grosserer Forschungsvorha ben, die beide von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft gefordert wurden bzw. werden, und die sich beide der Integration bestehender Anwendungssysteme fur die Unterstutzung von Entwicklungsprozessen in ingenieurwissenschaftlichen Disziplinen widmen. Dabei spielt in bei den Projekten die A-posteriori-Integration im Sinne des Zusammen schaltens existierender Entwicklungssysteme eine notwendige, aber untergeordnete Rolle. Integration ergibt sich namlich nur unzureichend durch software- und hardwaremassige Verknupfung der einzelnen Entwicklungssysteme. Statt dessen muss Integration auf ver besserte Funktionalitat des integrierten Gesamtsystems abzielen, durch Erweiterung der Funktionalitat der Einzelsysteme, insbesondere aber durch konzertiertes Zusammenwir ken der einzelnen Systeme im Verbund. Hierfur ist auch bei der Verwendung existierender Entwicklungssysteme zusatzliche Unterstutzungs- und Integrationsfunktionalitat zu reali sieren. Globale Zielsetzung dieser Bemuhungen ist somit die Verbesserung von Entwicklungs prozessen bezuglich deren Effizienz (schneller, kosten sparender) und Qualitat (weniger Sackgassen und Ruckgriffe, bessere Handhabung) durch Einsatz existierender und neuer Funktionalitat. Insbesondere muss eine solche Anstrengung darauf abzielen, die Qualitat des entstehenden komplexen Produkts des Prozesses zu verbessern (Konsistenz zwischen seinen Teilen, Wiederverwendung etc.). Diese Verbesserung von Entwicklungsprozessen ist eine wissenschaftliche Herausfor derung. Die Losung der zugrundeliegenden Probleme hat auch enorme wirtschaftliche Bedeutung in einem Hochlohnland. Auch in anderen Bereichen hat die Frage der Prozess verbesserung eine grosse Beachtung erlangt, z.B. fur Geschaftsprozesse in Unternehmen und Verwaltungen sowie fur Montage- und Fertigungsprozesse in Industrie und Handwerk."
