Various KLK proteins and their encoding genes have attracted
increased attention among scientists and clinicians worldwide since
they represent very interesting and functionally distinct
biomarkers, particularly, in cancer. This book reviews the role of
kallikrein-related peptidases (KLKs) in a wide range of cancers,
including lung, prostate, breast and ovarian cancer. It provides
clinicians, physician scientists and researchers with a
comprehensive overview on the clinical relevance of KLK expression
in various malignancies.
Computational intelligence techniques are gaining momentum in the
medical prognosis and diagnosis. This volume presents advanced
applications of machine intelligence in medicine and bio-medical
engineering. Applied methods include knowledge bases, expert
systems, neural networks, neuro-fuzzy systems, evolvable systems,
wavelet transforms, and specific internet applications. The volume
is written in view of explaining to the practitioner the
fundamental issues related to computational intelligence paradigms
and to offer a fast and friendly-managed introduction to the most
recent methods based on computer intelligence in medicine.
This handbook is the first comprehensive book of its kind reviewing
the clinically relevant current status of tissue kallikrein and
kallikrein-related peptidases research. Since several members of
the KLK family are key players in (patho-)physiological processes,
structural, functional, and regulatory studies are under way to
develop new strategies to prevent and treat disorders to which
individual members of the KLK protease family contribute
significantly. The goal of this book is to inform clinicians,
physician scientists and researchers about the prominent role of
the multifaceted and interactive KLK system in normal physiology
and pathological organ function.
The International Society for Justice Research (ISJR) aims to
provide a platform for interdisciplinary justice scholars who are
encouraged to present and exchange their ideas. This exchange has
yielded a fruitful advance of theoretical and empirically-oriented
justice research. This volume substantiates this academic legacy
and the research prospects of the ISJR in the field of justice
theory and research. Included are themes and topics such as the
theory of the justice motive, the mapping of the multifaceted forms
of justice (distributive, procedural) and justice in context-bound
spheres (e.g. non-humans). It presents a comprehensive "state of
the art" overview in the field of justice research theory and it
puts forth an agenda for future interdisciplinary and international
justice research. It is worth noting that authors in this proposed
volume represent ISJR's leading scholarship. Thus, the compilation
of their research within a single framework exposes potential
readers to high quality academic work that embodies the past,
current and future trends of justice research.

In
dem vorliegenden Buch wird erstmals eine umfassende Bilanz des
Moderatorvariablenansatzes in der Einstellungs- und
Personlichkeitsforschung vorgelegt. Drei Arten von
Moderatorvariablen werden behandelt: qualifizierende Merkmale von
Eigenschaften wie die Zentralitat einer Einstellung;
Personlichkeitseigenschaften mit begrenzter Moderatorwirkung, etwa
Angstabwehr; Personlichkeitseigenschaften als unspezifische
Konsistenzmoderatoren, z. B. die Selbstuberwachungstendenz.
Schliesslich wird erortert, ob die Befunde der Moderatorforschung
es rechtfertigen, Konsistenz als eine generalisierte
Personlichkeitseigenschaft anzusehen.
