Bioactive lipid metabolism and signaling are now widely accepted as
major players in cancer biology. This volume helps to fill the
urgent need to explore and investigate the innovations, current
shortcomings, and future challenges of cancer therapy through the
bioactive lipids by presenting new research on the use of bioactive
lipids as effective weapons against cancer. The volume introduces
the subject and then goes on to cover the chemistry, formulation,
and mechanism of bioactive lipids in cancer. The volume takes a
close look at lipoxins, ceramides, resolvins, and
sphingosine-1-phosphate and their roles in cancer treatment. It
also addresses the formulations based on bioactive lipids for the
treatment of cancer. A variety of mechanisms of bioactive lipids as
novel therapies are also covered, including using computational
techniques to identify bioactive lipid drug targets, targeting
therapy via KRAS and PI3K signals, and others. The authors also
discuss the role and effects of various substances and their effect
on various cancers, including colorectal cancer, prostate cancer,
breast cancer, and others. The application of lysophosphatidic
acid, lipopolysaccharide, lipid-soluble bioactive substance from
avocado, omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids-derived lipid
metabolites, and more are covered as well. The volume offers
academia, technologists, and scientists from different disciplines
valuable information to gain knowledge of bioactive lipid
metabolism and signaling as an anti-cancer weapon in their fight
against cancer.
The Persian Gulf 2018 is sixth in the series published by MEI@ND
and examines India's bilateral relations with the countries along
the Persian Gulf, namely, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar,
Saudi Arabia, UAE and Yemen. It focuses on developments during 2017
and offers a comprehensive account of the strategic, political,
economic and cultural aspects of bilateral developments along with
specific policy recommendations for India. The book also provides an
in-depth analysis of internal dynamics of these countries.
National security is paramount for an all inclusive development.
Along with a holistic approach in place, there is an urgent need to
first recognise the challenges to national security of the country.
National Security Challenges: Young Scholars' Perspective - a
tribute to Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw from the youth of the
country - primarily deals with India`s national security challenges
from a hardcore, predominantly traditional security point of view.
The main aim of the book is to develop strategic thinking amongst
the youth of this country. To provide a suitable platform to the
university students, CLAWS has initiated an unprecedented pan-India
essay competition - Field Marshal Manekshaw Essay Competition
(FMMEC). The book is the outcome of an overwhelming response to the
competition over past two years, and 12 select essays have been
compiled, edited, and published. Dealing with wide range of
subjects from conceptual understandings, threats and challenges
emanating from technological advancements, to learning from
national, regional and global experiences; the book provides a
fresh approach to the subject. It also gives a sneak peek into what
the youth of India feels about national security in the form of
policy recommendations. To boost the morale of the young authors
and university students, the book carries messages from Hon'ble
Raksha Mantri, Hon'ble National Security Advisor and Chief of the
Army Staff.
Educational Psychology has a great utility in pedagogy. The
principles of psychology can be used in various situations to
improve teaching-learning process, from understanding all relevant
personal and organismic variables to enriching the environment.
Whether it is narrow or wider objective, it has a crucial
role.Learning, Motivation, Personality, Intelligence, Creativity
and social developmental process are important concepts to
understand and implement in real educational settings.
Biological, Psycho-Social and Cognitive approaches try to
understand the adolescence. Patterns and courses of development are
discovered and studied from the scientific viewpoints to solve the
crisis and help in enhancement of development.Changes occuring
within the boundaries of adolescents'skins and psycho-social
demands bring for them challenges to cope up with. Roles of
adolescents and significant others are important in making
adjustment, resolving issues and making changes enjoying.
Pregnancy is an event that changes many perspectives of women's
life. It is regarded as a time of psychological and biological
crisis and emotional upheaval. Since, about 90% of all women become
pregnant at least once in their lives, it seems highly relevant to
investigate psychological changes during pregnancy. It is the
manifestation of various psychological and physiological changes
that substantially contribute to emotional disturbance and the long
term implications of adverse birth outcomes such as preterm
delivery and low birth weight. Data from epidemiological and
clinical studies consistently demonstrates that prenatal maternal
stress and negative mental health such as anxiety, depression and
somatic health complaints are independent risk factors for preterm
delivery and low birth weight. However, a relatively unrecognized
methodological issue in studying psycho-social factors during
pregnancy is that pregnancy itself presents unique psychological
and social challenges. Unfortunately pregnancy specific measures
have not been commonly included in studies related to preterm
delivery and low birth weight.
