This monograph is the first in which the theory of groupoids and algebroids is applied to the study of the properties of uniformity and homogeneity of continuous media. It is a further step in the application of differential geometry to the mechanics of continua, initiated years ago with the introduction of the theory of G-structures, in which the group G denotes the group of material symmetries, to study smoothly uniform materials.The new approach presented in this book goes much further by being much more general. It is not a generalization per se, but rather a natural way of considering the algebraic-geometric structure induced by the so-called material isomorphisms. This approach has allowed us to encompass non-uniform materials and discover new properties of uniformity and homogeneity that certain material bodies can possess, thus opening a new area in the discipline.

In times in which global governance in its various forms, such as human rights, international trade law, and development projects, is increasingly promoted by transnational economic actors and international institutions that seem to be detached from democratic processes of legitimation, the question of the relationship between international law and empire is as topical as ever. By examining this relationship in historical contexts from early modernity to the present, this volume aims to deepen current understandings of the way international legal institutions, practices, and narratives have shaped specifically imperial ideas about and structures of world governance. As it explores fundamental ways in which international legal discourses have operated in colonial as well as European contexts, the book enters a heated debate on the involvement of the modern law of nations in imperial projects. Each of the chapters contributes to this emerging body of scholarship by drawing out the complexity and ambivalence of the relationship between international law and empire. They expand on the critique of western imperialism while acknowledging the nuances and ambiguities of international legal discourse and, in some cases, the possibility of counter-hegemonic claims being articulated through the language of international law. If the ? rst book of the series was mainly aimed at residents and provided them with an introductory tool to the study of radiology, the subsequent volumes of the series try to provide the reader with an introduction to the study of each radiological subspecialty. In Learning Cardiac Imaging, we intend to review cardiac imaging from the p- spective of the six imaging modalities usually performed to obtain anatomic and functional information of the heart. In old days, conventional radiographs gave us some information about the an- omy and, only secondarily, the pathophysiology of the heart. With the advent of echocardiography, the heart could be studied dynamically. Nuclear Medicine and Cardiac MR allowed the study of cardiac function. 32- and 64-detector multislice CT let us obtain images of the coronary tree in a noninvasive approach. Cardiac imaging is complex and many health care professionals are needed, ? rstly, in the obtention and, secondly, in the interpretation of the images. Not only rad- lologists, cardiologists, and nuclear medicine physicians are needed, specialized nurses and technicians are indispensable to obtain diagnostic images of such a dynamic anatomic structure as the heart. The authorship of the book re? ects its multidisciplinary approach of the book.

Fue hecho prisionero por los nazis y llevado a los campos de concentracion de Dachau en Alemania, y poco despues a Mauthausen en Austria, donde estaria cuatro largos anos, sobreviviendo a todo tipo de vilezas y torturas, sobre todo, sobrevivio a la cruel prueba que resultaba ser para todo aquel que terminaba prisionero entre sus muros; su famosa cantera de granito con sus 186 peldanos de muerte, construida con la sangre de los republicanos espanoles alli recluidos y donde fueron masacrados miles de ellos...
