This edited volume presents a collection of lessons learned with, and research conducted on, OpenStreetMap, the goal being to promote the project's integration. This book aims to promote the synergistic usage of advanced computational methodologies in close relationship to geospatial information across cities of different scales. A rich collection of chapters subsumes current research frontiers originating from disciplines such as geography, urban planning, computer science, statistics, geographic information science and remote sensing. The topics covered in the book are of interest to researchers, postgraduates, practitioners and professionals. The editors hope that the scientific outcome of this book will stimulate future urban-related international and interdisciplinary research, bringing us closer to the vision of a "new science of cities."
Bei der Zentrale Orte Theorie handelt es sich um eine wirtschaftsgeographische Standorttheorie der Neoklassik, die ein Erklrungsmodell fr die rumliche Verteilung von Siedlungen bietet. Die darauf aufbauenden Konzepte der Raumordnung machten sich deren Grundgedanken zur Realisierung rumlicher Zielvorstellungen zu Nutze. Dazu bentigt es einer Erhebung des Bestandes an Zentralen Orten sowie deren Entwicklungstendenzen. Anhand des niedersterreichischen Waldviertels wird ein solches Vorgehen fr den Zeitraum 1980/81 bis 2004 aufgezeigt. Die vorliegende Arbeit soll PlanerInnen veranlassen, ihre Konzepte und Programme bezglich ihrer Wirksamkeit zu evaluieren und zu einer kontinuierlichen Raumbeobachtung anregen.
