In a sequel to Legal Thriller, former San Francisco
prosecutor/women's advocate Destiny Mitchell receives a call in the
middle of the night from a Death Row inmate, who pleads for her to
save him from someone who is trying to kill him and many other
Death Row inmates. Upon investigation, Destiny learns that Death
Row inmates at San Quentin are indeed dying at unprecedented rates.
When the inmate dies and she receives a second phone call and
warning from a scary man who demands to know what the inmate told
her, she realizes she has become embroiled in a sinister intrigue
that possibly involves state and federal government officials, the
California prison system, a secret society and even her own
husband, private detective Bryan Osaka. In a desperate bid to save
her own life and the life of best friend/Chronicle reporter, Kiyomi
Yamakita, Destiny is shocked to discover the reason for the inmates
being murdered and the method, designed to provide a small,
patriotic group with the power to control the world. Racing against
time, Destiny and Kiyomi are outmatched, in the dark and in need of
a major break, which comes from a surprising source.
The President announces the imminent approach of an asteroid that
will end all life on Earth and bring about cosmic winter. America
and the world react as governments collapse, wary militia groups
rally to secede in the mid-West and scientists propose to launch
Life Ark, a project that will preserve humans in stasis in space.
Part One of THE LAST YEAR TRILOGY.
An amusing and eccentric collection of stories based on some of
society's most controversial issues, addressed within the context
of a family's everyday life situations. The main characters: a man,
his wife and two children are consistent throughout. Killer Joe,
the deathrow inmate in The Felinicide, is a cat accused of killing
the family cockatoo. Dick is the classic struggle of man against
nature. Dick is the unprincipled family dog who gets the dog next
door pregnant, creating problems with the neighbor. The Doctress
deals with the narrator's insecurity and homophobia as he
experiences his first prostate examination. And finally, Nero deals
with a fatal hit-and-run and the media's influence in the
investigation and on public opinion. Nero happens to be a big,
sloppy dog who belongs to the granddaughter of the popular local
news anchor. The trial and eventual resolution of events occurs at
the family dinner table.
Mommy, There's A Little Boy Under My Bed! is the story of a little
monster, Markie, who is terrifed that there is a little boy hiding
under his bed. The story is about how children fear and distrust
people and things that are different, but in the most important
ways, we are all the same. It is a lesson even parents sometimes
need to learn.
In Sevilla, Spain, two identical twin brothers, Antonio and
Fernando Casta eda de Castile, aspire to be matadors, but only one
will succeed. In love with the same woman, Isabella Zamora, the
brothers compete for her love, yet only one will win her heart.
Antonio is a physical man, bold and daring, while Fernando is
intellectual, introspective and deeply philosophical. In a cruel
twist of Fate, Antonio is forced to "take his brother's life," and
vows to Fernando at his death to keep a secret from the world.
Speaking to a visitor, "a Moor" whose appearance was predicted by
"a gypsy," the aged Antonio is finally able to reveal the secret
and the story of his incredible life. He persuades his guest to
write his story and to correct a fraud. It is the story of living a
passionate life that inspires the writer-and will the reader-to a
life of passion
THE GREAEST SERIAL MURDER ARTIST OF ALL TIME? While investigating a
murder crime scene, San Francisco police find a letter addressed to
the highly-respected and clever Inspector Deuteronomy Saint Claire,
who is at odds with the city's top brass for not sharing
information over a career of twelve years. The letter is from a
serial killer who tells Saint Claire that, despite being dead and
in a grave for the last twelve days, he will murder seven people
over the next thirty days. Because the planned murders are
interdependent, with each killing setting off the next, the killer
dares the secretive detective to either stop him or proclaim his
genius to the world. Former Berkeley criminal psychology professor
Saint Claire, convinced the letter is from the same killer who
murdered his son, cautiously accepts the premise and the challenge.
By preventing any one of the planned murders, Saint Claire can
interrupt the sequence and save lives, but only if the killer's
claim to murder from the grave is true. Using clues from the letter
and crime scenes, the detective is determined to defeat the killer,
and if his instincts prove true, solve the murder of his son.
Part Two of the LAST YEAR TRILOGY. Continuation of Earth's last
year as chaos grows. Militia groups defy the government, California
attempts secession, Life Ark launches and political turmoil
threatens global war. In the Crypt amid Colorado's mountains, a
computer hacker and a scientist try to determine the truth of the
threat to Earth. Part One: Shadow in the Sky. Part Three: New World
Order
It's the story of a lurid murder in San Francisco. The case of
Jordan Alexander, a socialite, would have never gone to trial if
district attorney Peter Granucci hadn't been preparing to run for
mayor. Granucci chooses Destiny Mitchell, a young black woman, to
prosecute Jordan, the mayor's best friend, in this difficult and
highly publicized case. Jordan is accused of brutally murdering his
ex-wife in her Pacific Heights home. He denies any involvement and
suggests his wife was murdered by black hoodlums. It is a case that
no one, including Granucci, believes Destiny can win. The shocking
conclusion comes 14 years later in a dramatic courtroom showdown.
Disturbingly violent at times, sexy, racially-charged and full of
intrigue, Legal Thriller will forever change the way readers
evaluate trial and judgment.
