This State-of-the-Art Survey contains a selection of papers representing state-of-the-art results in the engineering of secure software-based Future Internet services and systems, produced by the NESSoS project researchers. The engineering approach of the Network of Excellence NESSoS, funded by the European Commission, is based on the principle of addressing security concerns from the very beginning in all software development phases, thus contributing to reduce the amount of software vulnerabilities and enabling the systematic treatment of security needs through the engineering process. The 15 papers included in this volume deal with the main NESSoS research areas: security requirements for Future Internet services; creating secure service architectures and secure service design; supporting programming environments for secure and composable services; enabling security assurance and integrating former results in a risk-aware and cost-aware software life-cycle.

This festschrift volume, published in honor of Bernd Kramer on the occasion of his 65th birthday, contains 11 contributions by close scientific companions. Covering topics like Petri nets and theoretical computer science, software and service engineering, cloud computing, and e-learning, the articles presented span the range of the scientific work of Bernd Kramer.

On the one hand, the traditional motivations for addressing safety and security still exist, and their relevance has improved. At present, many software-based systems interact with technical equipment and they communicate, e.g., with users and other systems. Future systems will more and more interact with many other entities (technical systems, people, the en- ronment). In this situation, security problems may cause safety-related failures. It is thus necessary to address safety and security. It is furthermore required to take into account the interactions between these two properties.

Software Architecture for Big Data and the Cloud is designed to be a single resource that brings together research on how software architectures can solve the challenges imposed by building big data software systems. The challenges of big data on the software architecture can relate to scale, security, integrity, performance, concurrency, parallelism, and dependability, amongst others. Big data handling requires rethinking architectural solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements related to volume, variety and velocity. The book's editors have varied and complementary backgrounds in requirements and architecture, specifically in software architectures for cloud and big data, as well as expertise in software engineering for cloud and big data. This book brings together work across different disciplines in software engineering, including work expanded from conference tracks and workshops led by the editors.
