So wie der ganze Mann, der in einem leeren Bus eine Nacht lang uber die Autobahnen donnert und sich an ein Leben erinnert, dass auf den ersten Blick aussergewohnlich wirkt und doch im Grunde nur ein ganz langweiliges Allerweltsleben ist. Mark Gold, selbst Filmtechniker, lasst den Leser wissen, dass sich keine seiner Geschichten so zugetragen hat, wie er sie hier erzahlt - und doch ist die Horigkeit der "grossten Sendeanstalt dieses Landes" gegenuber Politiker ebenso Thema einer seiner Geschichten, wie der Ortstafelstreit Karntens. Von faszinierenden Personlichkeiten bis hin zu fast primitiven Beziehungsproblemen spannt sich der Bogen seiner tropfelnden Geschichten. Wobei auch einem laienhaften Psychologen schnell auffallen durfte, dass dieser Mensch ein wirkliches Problem mit anderen Menschen, mit Beziehungen und seinen Gefuhlen hat.
