Perhaps the most awe-inspiring structures ever built in these
isles, ancient cathedrals continue to exude spiritual force and
architectural magic many centuries after their incredible design
and construction. This book, by monumental mason, letterer and
fire-fighter Mark Mills is beautifully illustrated with rare fine
engravings, and carefully printed on the highest quality papers.
Here is the amazing story of the cathedrals, told through the
exquisite examples of old England. WOODEN BOOKS are small but
packed with information. "Fascinating" FINANCIAL TIMES. "Beautiful"
LONDON REVIEW OF BOOKS. "Rich and Artful" THE LANCET. "Genuinely
mind-expanding" FORTEAN TIMES. "Excellent" NEW SCIENTIST.
"Stunning" NEW YORK TIMES. Small books, big ideas.
"Cover me while I cut around that blue Mondeo and ambush the guy in
the grey suit." There are not many successful entrepreneurs who
will enthusiastically break off in the middle of a multi-million
pound deal to have a huge snowball fight in the car park with their
finance director. But then Mark Mills is not just any successful
entrepreneur. Whether organising one of his infamous Summer
Christmas parties, flying to New York to find a new business idea
or staying up all night to celebrate a successful deal, Mark Mills
has always believed in the absolute importance of having fun in
business. And not just for him, but for his employees, customers
and suppliers too. His brilliantly unique approach has more than
paid off. Mark's infectious enthusiasm, relentless energy, can-do
approach and spirit of adventure have powered him to the very
pinnacle of entrepreneurial success, both in his own businesses and
by helping others to do the same in theirs. Over the years he has
won countless Entrepreneur of the Year Awards and been asked to
give speeches at prestigious events around the world about his
achievements. Making Your Mark tells the fascinating and
entertaining story of Mark's extraordinary success in business,
from selling broken biscuits at the age of 8, through his early
years selling everything from payphones to post boxes, to his
outstanding success creating Cardpoint, the cash machine business
he founded at the age of 29 which at its peak was valued at GBP170
million. But just as importantly, it also tells the story of Mark's
disasters along the way, about the times when things went badly
wrong and when failure was more often the outcome than success.
Along the way Mark shares his unique Golden Rules on how to achieve
your own success in business, from learning how to think like an
entrepreneur to creating a good business model, from understanding
how to build a strong team to learning how to communicate
effectively.
The sheer volume of talk about energy, energy prices, and energy
policy on both sides of the political aisle suggests that we must
know something about these subjects. But according to Peter W.
Huber and Mark P. Mills, the things we think we know are mostly
myths. A better understanding of energy will radically change our
views and policies on a number of very controversial issues. In
"The Bottomless Well," Huber and Mills show why energy is not
scarce, why the price of energy doesn't matter very much, and why
"waste" of energy is both necessary and desirable. Across the
board, energy isn't the problem; energy is the solution.

classical inscriptions. As his research deepens, Adam comes to
suspect that buried in the gardenas strange iconography is the key
to uncovering a long-ago murder. But the ancient house holds its
own secrets as well. And as Adam delves into his subject, he begins
to suspect that he is being used to discover the true meaning of
the villaas murderous past.

Murder mystery set in medieval England, based on the novel
'Morality Play' by Barry Unsworth. Paul Bettany stars as Nicholas,
a young priest who is forced to flee the wrath of his bishop and
fellow monks after breaking his vow of chastity. On the road he
witnesses the murder of one of the performers in a group of
wandering actors led by the good-natured Martin (Willem Dafoe), and
subsequently joins the troupe as a replacement for the murdered
man. When the troupe arrive in an impoverished town to give a
performance, they hear that a boy has been killed and a young
deaf-mute girl, Martha (Elvira Mínguez) has been sentenced to death
for his murder and witchcraft. Setting aside their usual fare of
dramatised bible stories, Nicholas and Martin decide to look into
the story as the basis for a new play. But they uncover more than
they had expected, finding out that the townspeople know that the
girl is innocent and have their own reasons for vilifying her. As
in Shakespeare's Hamlet, the stage becomes the place where truths
are told, and Nicholas, who has been racked with guilt since
committing his crime against the priesthood, finally finds a
dramatic way to atone for his sins.

For fans of William Boyd, Charles Cumming or Robert Harris Paris,
1937. Luke Hamilton - a junior air intelligence officer at the
British Embassy - finds himself the target of an assassination
attempt. A clear case of mistaken identity, or so it first appears.

to learn that the answers lie deep in a past that predates his
abandonment as a baby on the steps of an orphanage twenty-five
years ago. From the author of the bestselling THE SAVAGE GARDEN,
and set against a terrific backdrop of Europe on the cusp of the
Second World War, this is a compelling novel, rich in adventure,
espionage, secrets and lies.
