Practical Pulmonary Pathology - A Diagnostic Approach (Hardcover, 4th edition): Maxwell L Smith, Kevin O. Leslie, Mark R. Wick Practical Pulmonary Pathology - A Diagnostic Approach (Hardcover, 4th edition)
Maxwell L Smith, Kevin O. Leslie, Mark R. Wick
R6,418 Discovery Miles 64 180 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Part of the in-depth and practical Pattern Recognition series, Practical Pulmonary Pathology, 4th Edition, helps you arrive at an accurate diagnosis by using a pattern-based approach. Leading diagnosticians in pulmonary pathology offer practical assistance in identifying all major neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases of the lungs, guiding you from a pathological pattern through the appropriate work-up, around the pitfalls, and to the best diagnosis. More than 1,000 high-quality illustrations capture key morphologic patterns for a full range of common and rare conditions and assist in the interpretation of complex diagnostic puzzles. A unique "visual index" at the beginning of the book directs you to the exact chapter and specific page you need for in-depth diagnostic guidance. Helps you quickly recognize the vast variety of appearances of the lung that result from infections, tumors, and tumor-like lesions, both malignant and benign. Discusses advances in molecular diagnostic testing, its capabilities and its limitations, including targeted/personalized medicine. Incorporates clinicopathologic background and relevant data from ancillary techniques (immunohistochemistry, cytogenetics, and molecular genetics), giving you the tools you need to master the latest breakthroughs in diagnostic technology. Covers the latest TNM staging and WHO classification systems, as well as new diagnostic biomarkers and their utility in differential diagnosis, newly described variants, and new histologic entities. Color-codes patterns to specific entities, and summarizes key points in tables, charts, and graphs so you can quickly and easily find what you are looking for. Shares the knowledge and expertise of new co-editor, Dr. Maxwell L. Smith. Enhanced eBook version included with purchase. Your enhanced eBook allows you to access all of the text, figures, and references from the book on a variety of devices.

Diagnostic Histochemistry (Hardcover): Mark R. Wick Diagnostic Histochemistry (Hardcover)
Mark R. Wick
R4,735 Discovery Miles 47 350 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Pathology is an inherently subjective discipline, and therefore is often referred to as both an art and a science. Over the years, laboratory physicians have implemented special tissue stains and molecular techniques to limit subjectivity in the discipline. Beginning in the late 19th century, histochemical stains were developed to assess diagnostic biochemical reactions in tissue. Histochemistry has recently seen a resurgence in popularity because of the higher costs of other newer methods. Today, this technique is used by almost every pathology laboratory across the world.
This book comprehensively covers all diseases for which that technique plays a central role in diagnosis. Every anatomic region is covered in detail with examples of appropriate staining techniques, and the book is heavily illustrated with over 850 color photomicrographs. This is the first monograph to be published on histochemistry in 15 years, and it is the only one that is diagnostically-oriented.

Pathology of the Mediastinum (Hardcover, New): Alberto M. Marchevsky, Mark R. Wick Pathology of the Mediastinum (Hardcover, New)
Alberto M. Marchevsky, Mark R. Wick
R2,883 Discovery Miles 28 830 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

This book provides a comprehensive, up-to-date review of the pathology of the neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases that occur in the mediastinum. The pathologic and relevant clinical features are discussed, and detailed diagnostic criteria for various diseases are given, along with information about the most relevant laboratory tests. The features of thymomas, thymic carcinomas, neuroendocrine carcinomas and germ cell tumors are discussed in detail, including the utilization of immunostains and other ancillary tests in diagnosing these diseases. An algorithmic approach to the differential diagnosis of mediastinal lymphomas is given, and a novel clinico-pathologic classification helps readers diagnose and treat thymomas. Cardiac lesions, mesothelioma and other intrathoracic lesions are also reviewed. The book features more than 650 images, and downloadable copies of these are included on a CD-ROM, packaged with the print book. Pathology of the Mediastinum will be of interest to practising surgical pathologists, thoracic surgeons, oncologists and radiologists.
