Chronicles" saga, journey back to the very beginning and witness
the origins of the madman who, after a life of societal rejection,
would go on to become the most dangerous sociopath the world has
ever known: the Scorpion.
The Norcinites, a secret race of super-humans, have been hiding in
the shadows of civilization for over a hundred years. No one knows
how the first of the Norcinites, Steven Noricin, came upon his
powers, but they all fear what would happen if the Old Race - the
Commen - were to learn of their existence. In the 1960's and
1970's, the Norcinite world was torn apart by a genocidal maniac
known only as the Scorpion. The Scorpion was defeated in 1979 by
Nevar Loeren, but his spirit - unbeknownst to the Norcinites -
endured. Now, twelve years after the fall of the Scorpion, the
warlord is regaining strength and it appears as if the fates of the
Old and New Races rest on the shoulders of one twelve year-old boy,
Daniel Regal, an orphan who shares a mysterious bond with the
dreaded Scorpion. --- This is a special paperback omnibus edition
of books 1-4 of Mark Sheldon's "The Noricin Chronicles." A

As Dan Regal takes his plunge into the past, he finds himself
surrounded by the ghosts of those he lost. Despite Mr. Loeren's
dire warnings against meddling with the events of the time, Dan is
determined to fix the wrongs of his past - starting with preventing
Mr. Loeren's murder. But as Dan quickly becomes dangerously
entangled in the web of time, he soon discovers just how little
control over his own destiny he truly has.
The Scorpion has returned, and now no one, Comman or Norcinite
alike, is safe. Outside of the safe walls of Snisnar, the Scorpion
is mounting his attack on the Old Race, and is taking out anyone
who stands in his way. As Dan prepares to face his final year at
Snisnar, Mr. Loeren begins preparing Dan for the danger that awaits
him beyond the protective walls of Steven Noricin's school. But not
even the wise Mr. Loeren can prepare Dan for what he is about to
face...
Maggie Dallen, last of the Gottlehrling bloodline, lived a
relatively idyllic life, until the death of her husband left her
pregnant, in a world turned upside down. As Maggie flees from the
trauma of her past, little does she know that a madman with a
vendetta against her family is hunting her down...and will stop at
nothing to find her.
After another short summer reprieve, Dan's classmates return to
Snisnar to face their darkest year at school yet. The Scorpion is
still at large, and now the students of Snisnar are disappearing at
an alarming rate. Worst of all, Dan is the prime suspect for the
mysterious kidnappings. As the school's faculty suffers strain from
within, Dan finds himself in a race against time to find out who
the Scorpion has currently possessed, and what he is planning to do
with the kidnapped students. Will Dan be able to solve the mystery
before it's too late to save the missing students?
Dan Regal has always been alone, having been left on the steps of
an orphanage when he was only a baby. He has never had any
visitors, nor made any true friendships with the other children at
the orphanage. Aside from this utter, inescapable aloneness, Dan
Regal is an entirely normal, unremarkable young boy. But all of
that is about to change... On Dan's twelfth birthday, he receives a
visit from a mysterious stranger, a man by the name of Nevar
Loeren, who claims to be the Principal of a school for children
with special gifts - and he says that Dan has the very gifts they
seek. The mysterious Mr. Loeren then vanishes before Dan's very
eyes, leaving him to doubt his sanity. But this will not be the
last young Dan sees of the enigmatic stranger. Little does Dan know
it, but he is just about to find out that he is part of a world he
never even dreamed to be possible - and that he is anything but
alone in that world.
As Dan continues on his quest to discover the true identity of the
Scorpion, he finds himself entangled in a web of mystery and
deceit. As he tries to unriddle the enigma of the Scorpion's past,
Dan soon finds out that his own past is more entwined in that
mystery than he ever could have imagined. As Dan draws ever closer
to uncovering the terrible truth about the Scorpion, he will also
at last unlock the secret of his own origins. But at what price?
Ever since the Siege of Snisnar, Dan Regal and his friends have
been on the run, keeping in touch with their former teacher, Darius
Saget, to keep abreast of news out in the real world. Dan's ragtag
team find themselves in a race against time to uncover the
mysterious Relics of Time before the Scorpion - for the Relics are
the Scorpion's only hope to build a weapon that will defeat Dan,
once and for all. As the Norcinite world finds itself on the brink
of battle, each and every person must be asked the ultimate
question: Who will submit to their hatred and their fear, and who
will stand up for what they know to be right? In this fast-paced
fifth installment of his epic twelve-part series, "The Noricin
Chronicles," Mark Sheldon mercilessly pulls his readers further
into his world of mystery, riddles, and adventure as he brings us
ever closer to the inexorable climax of this thrilling story.
After nearly being killed by the disembodied Scorpion at the end of
the previous school year, Dan Regal has more than earned a quiet
summer alone at Snisnar - his solitude interrupted only for private
lessons each morning with Mr. Loeren on the bank of the school
pond. But his reprieve is not destined to last, and in September
the other students return to Snisnar to commence their studies.
Almost as soon as the rest of the school has returned, strange
things begin to happen (strange even for Snisnar), and before long,
it becomes quite clear that the Scorpion did indeed survive his
encounter with Dan last spring, and has set himself to killing Dan
once and for all. As if having the Scorpion after him were not
enough, there is also a new teacher at the school who makes Ms.
Virgus look like a cute, cuddly long-eared jerboa - and this
teacher seems to have it in for Dan and his friends. There are also
whispers going around the school of a long-lost heirloom of Steven
Noricin's; a goblet that, according to legend, has the power to
grant immortality to its drinker, and it seems as if the Scorpion
is now seeking out this relic so that it may aid him in his return
to power. Will Dan be able to find the Gottlehrling Goblet before
the Scorpion gets his hands on it?
