"Silent Music" is a short memoir about one tumultuous year in the author's life. Set in 1976, it's the author's account of a fairytale romance he has at age 22 with a beautiful young woman named Lisa. But the initial whirlwind romance ultimately results in the author's emotional breakdown. The remainder of the book chronicles the author's struggle to come to grips with the defeat of the relationship and the difficult journey to recovery. "Silent Music" is the honest account of a crushing illness that is by turns heart-rending and evocative. It will speak to anyone who has been shattered by life, and then found the courage to pick up the pieces and go on.
