This work focuses on the integration of the school library media centre with the work of the classroom. Mary Kay Urbanik explores the general principles and dynamics of the curriculum planning process and examines the role the school library media centre plays in that process, with a historical review of the field of curriculum planning and of the development of the school library to its media centre concept. The volume examines a number of curriculum design patterns, discusses various ways of integrating the use of the school library media centre with classroom instruction, and addresses the appropriate use of media for the improvement of instruction, with a section on the importance of acquiring skills in information access.
