"Marvelous mouse-sized mischief for all ages." -Booklist (starred
review) From the creator of the acclaimed and beloved Pokko and the
Drum comes an emotionally resonant, "richly imagined" (The Horn
Book, starred review) picture book about trust, worry, and loyalty
between a father and daughter. Mina and her father live in a
hollowed-out tree stump on the edge of a pond on the edge of a
forest. Nothing ever bothers Mina, until one day, her father brings
home a suspicious surprise from the woods. Should Mina trust her
father-or listen to her own instincts?

From E.B. White Read Aloud honor artist Matthew Forsythe comes a
picture book about a magical drum, an emerald forest, and the little
frog who dares to make her own music.
The biggest mistake Pokko’s parents ever made was giving her the drum.
When Pokko takes the drum deep into the forest it is so quiet, so very
quiet that Pokko decides to play. And before she knows it she is joined
by a band of animals —first the raccoon, then the rabbit, then the
wolf—and soon the entire forest is following her. Will Pokko hear her
father’s voice when he calls her home?
Pokko and the Drum is a story about art, persistence, and a family of
frogs living in a mushroom.
All it takes is one: one coral gamete to start a colony, one person
to make a difference, one idea to change the world. The ongoing
efforts to save and rebuild the world's coral reefs-with hammer and
glue, and grafts of newly grown coral-are the living legacy of Ken
Nedimyer, founder of the Coral Restoration Foundation. Kate Messner
and Matthew Forsythe tell the true story of the coral restoration
pioneer in this brilliant tribute to the wonders of nature and the
power of human hope.

From the author of "Ojingogo," another tale of enchantment and
adventure
"Jinchalo "is Korean for "Really?" and that question (formulated
variously as "What is and what isn't?" "What is real?" and "What is
imagined?") is at the heart of this book. A companion to Matthew
Forsythe's vastly successful "Ojingogo," "Jinchalo "stars the same
little girl as its heroine. When the mischievous shape-shifter
Jinchalo hatches from a mysterious egg, he starts our heroine
adventuring anew. Magical troubles drag the pair out of the safety
of her home, through the small village where she resides, up, up,
and away. In the course of their flight, they visit a robot garden,
follow a vine into the clouds, and leave the village far
behind.
These comics are firmly rooted in Korean folktales and stylistic
conventions, with a playful, joyous drawn line. "Jinchalo "welcomes
readers back into Forsythe's Miyazaki-tinged dreamscape where
spotted octopi fly and bears give piggyback rides, where
hummingbirds are larger than people and a sad furry monster wearing
a bowler hat lurks around every corner. Forsythe uses page space
innovatively in this wordless, panel-less book, and his
storytelling is compelling for all ages, both simple and
intricately detailed.
Lemony Snicket's simply told story offers a refreshing, thoughtful, and hilarious look at the ways in which a bad mood wreaks havoc as it moves from person to person, leaving an unexpected trail of surprise in its wake: opportunities for laughter, forgiveness and even love.
An E. B. White Read-Aloud Honor Book An ALA Notable Book A
Huffington Post Notable Book CAUTION! This book contains monkeys,
alligators, and a whole lot of silliness. You really shouldn't be
opening this book. I'm serious. Just put it back on the shelf.
Right...now. You're still reading this? Well, don't say I didn't
warn you... It looks like a book, it feels like a book, and it even
smells like a book. But watch out...madness and mayhem lie within!
Debut author Adam Lehrhaupt urges you NOT to take a walk on the
wild side in this humorous, interactive romp with inventive and
engaging illustrations from Eisner Award-winning comic artist and
rising star children's book illustrator Matthew Forsythe. Warning:
Do Not Open This Book? won the E.B. White Read-Aloud Honor award
and was a 2013 Huffington Post Best Picture Book honorable mention
and an ALA Notable Children's Book. This quirky, subversive
creation begs to be enjoyed again and again and again. "These
monkeys are a RIOT! And their books are funny, too!" -Ame Dyckman
A group of zany monkeys ask the reader to rescue them from the book
by reading it and turnings its pages. And before long the reader
will realize that once all the pages are turned and read, the
monkeys are trapped again. Until next time!
