David Blair directs this British drama, loosely inspired by John Steinbeck's novel 'Of Mice and Men'. Set in Nottingham, the film revolves around the relationship between the thuggish Danny (Stephen Graham) and Joseph (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), a giant of a man with a mental age of seven. When Danny finds himself in debt to a local crime boss, he feels he is left with no choice but to manipulate Joseph into participating in a series of underground cage fights from which Danny can profit. Salvation appears to call out to both men when they begin relationships with Lisa (Emma Stansfield) and Isabel (Maxine Peake), but will they be able to escape the bloody world of gambling and fighting Danny has plunged them into?

Neil Thompson directs this British thriller set in early 1980s Birmingham. Mel Raido stars as Danny, a lonely and introverted factory worker whose already bleak existence is reduced still further when he becomes the victim of a random act of violence. However, Danny's life is turned around when he meets the doormen of a local nightclub, who take him in and build up his confidence. But as Danny is drawn deeper into their world, he crosses paths with the local gangland boss and inadvertently triggers a chain of events with shockingly brutal consequences.

In those days they cycled in clubs and once Beryl started she was smitten, not only with Charlie, but by the thrill and freedom found on two wheels. Beryl was better than good, she was the best, and she was determined to stay that way. Beryl Burton was five times world-pursuit champion, thirteen times national champion, twice road-racing world champion and twelve times national champion. Her accolades include time trials, former world-record holder, former British record-holder, numerous sports awards an MBE and an OBE. Burton was one of the most astonishing sports people ever to have lived, but she remains something of a mystery. Beryl, which celebrates the extraordinary sporting achievements of this inspirational cyclist, has been specially commissioned as an adaptation from Maxine Peake's acclaimed 2012 Radio 4 play and marks her stage-writing debut. It received its world premiere on 30 June 2014 at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in the Courtyard Theatre.
