Cornelius Michael Buckley, S.J. delves into Stephen Larigaudelle
Dubuisson's life, using him as the point of departure to describe
the tensions among Jesuits in Maryland after the restoration of the
order in 1814. A refugee of the violent slave rebellions in Haiti,
where he was born, and the Terror in France, Dubuisson became a
clerk in Napoleon's personal treasury and a resident in the
Tuileries. He was a member of Marie Louise's flight in 1814 and
later differed with Napoleon's account of the fate of the lost
treasury during this momentous event. The following year, giving up
a promising career in the Restoration government, he entered the
slave-owning Jesuits in Maryland. Ten years later, he was the
priest involved in the Mattingly Miracle. After a brief tenure as
Georgetown's fourteenth president, Dubuisson spent three years in
Europe advising the Jesuit general how to keep his American troops
in step along the Ignatian "long black line." During this time, he
began his career as a fundraiser and propagandist for the American
Church and as an unofficial, and sometimes vexing, diplomat of the
general in the courts of Europe. After his return, Dubuisson served
as a parish priest in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Elected
a second time to represent the Maryland Jesuits at a meeting in
Rome, he never returned to the United States and eventually became
chaplain to the dashing Duke and Duchess de Montmorency Laval.
Recognized as "the chief pillar of the Jesuit mission in the United
States," he died in Pau, France, during the height of the American
Civil War.
The Voices of the Chesapeake Bay radio show has featured hundreds
of people who live, work, and play on the Chesapeake Bay. Now host
Michael Buckley brings us a fascinating collection of over 50 of
these interviews in written form, providing the reader with
glimpses into Chesapeake Bay life from a variety of diverse
perspectives. Many people travel across the Chesapeak Bay Bridge
and only see a big, flat body of water, but Voices of the
Chesapeake Bay will help them see deeply into that water. These
accounts open windows-each with a view of the Chesapeake-through
which we see history, ecology, economy, and how they intertwine
with the human soul.

fantasy, mystery, adventure, and humor in the beloved New York
Times bestselling Sisters Grimm series by Michael Buckley, now with
new cover art. As featured on NBC's The Today Show, the nine wildly

Unusual Suspects; and book three, The Sisters Grimm: The Problem
Child. Books four through nine will be available in revised

rampaging through town. But who set the giant loose in the first
place? Was it Mayor Charming (formerly Prince Charming), who has
plans to get his kingdom back? The Three Not-So-Little Pigs, now
working as police officers? Or a giant-killer named Jack, currently
working at a Big & Tall store? With an irresistible combination
of adventure and imagination, the Sisters Grimm series injects
classic fairy tales with modern day sensibilities and suspense,
creating a fantastical combination readers of all ages will love.

as Sabrina and Daphne get closer to uncovering the truth about
their parents. Coming face-to-face with their parents' kidnappers,
the sisters are stunned when one of them turns out to be the
world's most famous fairy-tale character (hint: she wears red) and
the other an unstoppable killing-machine known as the Jabberwocky.
Without the presumed-dead Mr. Canis (aka The Big Bad Wolf) fighting
at their side, the girls have little hope that they'll ever be
reunited with their mother and father. That is until their
long-lost Uncle Jake returns home with stories of a weapon that can
kill the Jabberwocky a weapon so powerful that it had to be
shattered into many pieces. Now the girls must find the pieces so
the deadly weapon can be reformed. But to get the deed done they'll
have to go head-to-head with the Wizard of Oz, the (not so) Little
Mermaid, and even the horrible witch Baba Yaga. To complicate
matters, Sabrina begins to struggle with an addiction to magic and
finds herself unraveling a real-life family mystery. With an

A treasury of Catholic worship from ancient times to the present

This new, thoroughly updated edition of Bradt's Tibet encompasses
the wider region of ethnic Tibet with more detailed coverage of the
Amdo and Kham regions than is found in other guides. It also
includes essential information on new border openings and is
particularly strong on map data, which is extremely difficult to
find in Tibet itself, including new theme maps covering a range of
topics, from Tibetan regions to the Three Parallel Rivers UN World
Heritage Sites, sacred landscapes, permafrost and major river
sources. Bradt's Tibet benefits from years of consistent research.
Michael Buckley has been visiting and researching Tibet for more
than 30 years and has a raft of books to his name. Thanks to his
knowledge and expertise, Bradt's Tibet offers a more extensive
language appendix than is found in other guidebooks, plus essential
guidelines on cultural etiquette (including a special section on
hand gestures to use), local customs and travelling with minimum
impact on Tibet's culture and environment. There is also an
appendix on fauna and an extensive list of recommended further
resources, including books, music, films and even virtual reality
Exploring ethnic Tibet independently is a challenge. The 'land of
snows' possesses the world's highest peaks (including Everest) and
its deepest gorges as well as some of the wildest and roughest road
routes in high Asia. Bradt's Tibet provides all the practical
information you need to explore ethnic Tibet independently, whether
motoring, mountain-biking or trekking. Tibet has always fascinated
travellers and armchair travellers because it is so difficult to
access due to its remoteness and extreme altitude. Now, under
Chinese rule, Tibet is a sensitive destination for Westerners.
Visitors needs all the information that they can lay their hands
on-and this guidebook provides plenty. With flight routes and rail
access to Tibet expanding, and new border crossings opening,
Michael Buckley and Bradt's Tibet provide all of the information
you need to make the most of a trip.
