San Francisco is home to the largest working collection of vintage
streetcars in the world. One of the city's most recognizable and
beloved attractions, the streetcar line which runs through the
heart of the city serves more than 20,000 riders a day. San
Francisco's Market Street Railway continues to collect vintage cars
from all over the world and to lovingly restore them to service as
part of this rolling museum that pays tribute to cities who have
operated streetcar lines in the past and present. This delightful
book showcases this historic fleet with more than 120 pages of
beautiful color photos of currently restored and active streetcars.
Each car is introduced with a paragraph describing its history. The
book also explores the history of the streetcar as urban transit,
both nationally and within San Francisco, and also tells the story
of how this amazing "Museum in Motion" came to exist as one of San
Francisco's most famous attractions.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The first half of twentieth
century art belongs to Pablo Picasso, but there is no argument that
the second half belongs to Andy Warhol. One of the most influential
figures in modern art, Andy Warhol is instantly recognized for his
Marilyn and Elvis portraits, his iconic Campbell's Soup cans, and
for his blazing the trail for underground avant garde film,
producing more than sixty films from 1963 to 1968. Warhol's studio,
known as "The Factory," was a famous gathering place that brought
together distinguished intellectuals, drag queens, rock stars,
transvestites, writers, artists, Bohemian street people, junkies,
Hollywood celebrities and wealthy patrons. The Factory was a place
where society's outcasts could mingle with the rich and famous,
where legendary parties set trends and influenced popular culture,
and where Warhol would create works which are now valued in the
millions. But Warhol also had a dark side, and many of those who
worked with him had little respect for him. Behind Warhol the
artist were many people who sacrificed their own careers and even
their lives to bring Warhol the notoriety he gained throughout his
relentless pursuit for fame. In The Real King of Pop, Warhol
historian and collector Michael Malott compiles his years of
researching Andy's life and interviewing those who knew and worked
with Warhol into an extensive biography on this legendary, aloof
and often misunderstood individual....... SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION

In "Let's Explore Hollywood" readers explore this magical city
built on the motion picture and music industry. When the Motion
Picture Patent Company tried to create a monopoly on motion picture
cameras in the early nineteen hundreds, a filmmaker named Harvey
Wilcox headed west. D.W. Griffith led his film crew entourage to
Hollywood because it was too cold and dark in New York City. Cecil
B. DeMille, another filmmaker later joined the journey to L.A.
because during the shooting of his film, The Squaw Man, the
mountains of Arizona became snow covered and interfered with
filming and continuity. Hence the beginning of Hollywood's
illustrious film history. The first movie was shot in Hollywood in
1911, and by 1920, Hollywood had become a boom town and all the
film companies were now making Hollywood the movie production
capital of the world. Hollywood became legendary and has enjoyed a
rich history. Movie stars lived lives in Hollywood that others
could only dream of. Today Hollywood still maintains the mystic
appeal it always has despite the film industry and celebrity
residences now branching out throughout the L.A. area. Hollywood
Blvd., it's famous Walk of Fame, and legendary Chinese Theatre have
immortalized many of the celebrity names and times that built this
magnificent, legendary city and made it what it remains today, a
city of dreams. In "Let's Explore Hollywood" we'll introduce
reader's to all the landmarks and points of interest that make up
Hollywood, including the studio's, celebrity homes, and other
exciting locations.

Dennis Peron is the person behind the legalization of medical
marijuana in the State of California. In the mid 90's, Dennis
opened the legendary S.F. Cannabis Buyers Club. A five-story
storefront, which openly distributed hundreds of pounds of medical
marijuana daily to sick and dying patients. Despite its main street
location, the club continued to openly sell marijuana without
interference by police or city officials under the protection of
CA. Prop. 215, which allowed the use of medical marijuana with a
doctor's recommendation. Eventually State Attorney General, Dan
Lundgren and his officers raided the club. The raid opened the door
to one of the most publicized and criticized police acts in the
history of the legal system. Lundgren felt repercussions through
the San Francisco Police Department, city hall, the mayors office
all the way to Washington, D.C. Lundgren was shunned for using the
raid as a platform for himself for the upcoming Democratic
Convention which had been only days away. Everyone all the way up
to local churches stepped up and started to distribute medical
marijuana to San Francisco's sick and dying. Thousands gathered to
protest Lungren's actions and the San Francisco was thrust into the
worldwide media spotlight in one of the most controversial legal
issues of this century. Lungren was criticized all the way to
Washington D.C. and Peron became a real American hero. At present
day, literally hundreds of cannabis buyers clubs now openly
distribute medical marijuana throughout California. Medical
recommendations are freely distributed to thousands of California
residents for anything from anxiety to AIDS. Oakland is now
commonly referred to as "Oaksterdam" and reminiscent of Amsterdam,
clubs fill the downtown area right next store to city hall. This is
the story of one incredible man who had compassion, vision, and a
dream, and against impossible odds he made it a reality.
