Politikwissenschaftlicher Ansatz., Abstract: Die offentliche
Diskussion wird gegenwartig von dem allseits geteilten Bewusstsein
gepragt, dass wir uns unter den Bedingungen der Globalisierung und
der Europaisierung in einem tiefgreifenden Umbruch des
gesellschaftlichen Lebens befinden. In dieser Arbeit soll der
Begriff der europaischen Identitat unter politikwissenschaftlicher
Perspektive ausgeleuchtet werden. Nachdem zunachst eine
Begriffsdefinierung im Kapitel zwei erfolgt, begeben wir uns in die
europaische Gegenwart der Lage der Nationalstaaten. Der Wandel des
Nationalstaates unter Bezugnahme der Europaisierung und
Globalisierung soll dabei im Kapitel drei die Grundlage fur das
Entstehen einer Diskussion uber europaische Identitat beleuchten.
Nach der Suche der Gemeinsamkeiten der europaischen Staaten in der
Geschichte Europas im vierten Kapitel, fuhrt der Diskurs zur
staatsrechtlichen und politikwissenschaftlichen Ebene des Themas
europaische Identitat. Die Ausgangsfrage, die bei der Erstellung
der einzelnen Kapitel richtungsweisend war und die Grundlage fur
die Schlussbetrachtung liefert, lautet wie folgt: Ist die
europaische Identitat als Grundlage des Zugehorigkeitsbewusstseins
und der Legitimation der Europaischen Union notwendig und wenn ja,
wie konnte und musste der Identitatsbegriff dann inhaltlich
ausgefullt sein?
Dr. Jean Michel Massing is a Reader in the History of Art and a
Fellow of King's College, Cambridge. The first volume of Studies in
Imagery, Text and Images consists of 25 studies grouped under four
sections: Classical Art and its Nachleben; Symbolic Languages;
Saints and Devils; Comets, Dreams and Stars. The topics include the
Celto-Roman goddess Epona, the Calumny of Apelles and its
reconstructions, the Triumph of Caesar, proverb illustration, the
art of memory, emblematic and didactic imagery, the temptations of
St Anthony, as well as dreams and celestial phenomena. They span a
wide range of periods, from classical antiquity to the nineteenth
century. This volume, The World Discovered, deals variously with
the relationship of European with non-European cultures,
cartography in medieval and early modern times, the representation
of foreign lands and people, and the collecting of exotic
artefacts. A central theme involves the imagery of black Africans
