Sixteen hundred years before the Earth changes forever, a zoologist receives an important message from God that a supernatural event is imminent. God is angry with mankind's evil and will destroy every breathing creature on Earth. Told by God to build a ship that will carry him and his family safely away from a global deluge of water, Noah struggles to warn civilization, to no avail. Unfortunately, he is up against the evil Emperor Anak and his Cainite officials, who are determined to stop the construction of Noah's ark at all cost.
Under God's ever-watchful presence, Noah; his grandfather, Methuselah; and his son, Japheth, devote their lives to completing the massive project, even as the water vapor canopy suspended above the atmosphere begins its steady, inevitable plunge downward. The Book of Adam, which contains sacred prophecies of God's work to come and proves that what Noah is preaching is true, appears to be lost forever-unless Japheth can continue the search his grandfather started ages ago and find the book before time runs out.
In this fast-paced Christian adventure, a biblical family must put into practice unforgettable lessons of courage, faith, and self-sacrifice as they attempt to escape an evil world with nothing more than an ark and a promise from God.
Participation of firms in Open Source Software (OSS) development is
steadily increasing. In fact, a substantial part of OSS projects
today are developed in informal collaboration between firms and a
community of voluntary contributors. As more and more firms are
active in OSS, acquisitions of firms active in OSS development
occur increasingly often. Yet, despite the economic and practical
importance of OSS, research has so far overlooked this phenomenon.
This dissertation explores this phenomenon of acquisitions of firms
active in OSS development. Michael Vetter examines the role of OSS
in the pre-acquisition phase and the impact of acquisitions on OSS
development in the post-acquisition phase. Using qualitative and
quantitative research methods, the author examines acquisition
motives, acquisition likelihood, timing of acquisitions, and
outcomes of acquisitions and discuss mechanisms behind variations
across acquisitions. The findings from the studies contribute to
research on acquisitions and OSS development while also providing
insights into how to leverage OSS in target search, selection and
evaluation processes as well as how to effectively manage
acquisitions of firms active in OSS and the communities around
them.
Evina, the daughter of the High Priest of Marduk and the
brightest astronomer in New Babel, spots a tiny object in space
careening on a collision course with Earth. She asks a world famous
clockmaker to build her a mechanical predictor engine to calculate
the exact trajectory of the approaching asteroid. She is befriended
by the clockmaker's twins-Dov and Yanis-who tell her about the God
who created the universe and who is sovereign over all things. The
twins use Evina's observations to program the Cyclone supercomputer
for its exact impact time and location. The terrifying results
spark an adventure that leads them deep inside the One World Tower
to rescue Evina from her observatory in the tower's jet-black
ziggurat.
Sprinting against time and the inevitable destruction of the
tower, Dov's daring rescue plans come up against the most powerful
men in the world. King Nimrod, Master Magician Magus, and High
Priest Zidon-the Babel Triad-are intent on squashing all opposition
when the universal confusion of languages sends shock waves through
civilization.
The speculative technology behind the biblical tower of Babel
and God's miracle of languages includes steel skyscrapers,
high-speed elevators, steam engines, naval warships and digital
computers blended with examples of heroic self-sacrifice from a
Christian world view. God's sovereignty and obedience to His
commands were as essential to life back at the epicenter of world
history as they are to us today.
