Natalie Curtis Burlin (1876-1921) was born to a wealthy New York City family and initially trained for a career as a classical concert pianist. Wieso kann der Kauf einer Schrankwand zur Ausrottung der Gorillas beitragen? Welches Interesse hat Deutschland an einem Staudamm im Kongo? Diese und weitere Fragen, mochte ich im Rahmen dieser Arbeit versuchen zu beantworten. Dabei lege ich meine Schwerpunkte auf folgende Themen. Zunachst werden einige kurze Fakten zur Demokratische Republik Kongo (DR Kongo) den Einstieg ins Thema liefern. Danach mochte ich einen kurzen geschichtlichen Abriss der Auseinandersetzungen im Kongo liefern, gefolgt von der Erklarung, warum es sich hierbei um einen Konflikt um Rohstoffe handelt. Im Anschluss werde ich am Beispiel der Bayer AG versuchen aufzuzeigen, welche Zusammenhange zwischen internationalen Unternehmen und der Situation im Kongo besteht. Einen weiteren Schwerpunkt bilden die okologischen Folgen des Konflikts, besonders fur die Gorillas im Kongo. Anschliessend erklare ich den Begriff der Direktinvestition am Beispiel des Unternehmens Fichtner im Kongo. Danach versuche ich zu beleuchten, welche Interessen Deutschland in dem afrikanischen Land verfolgt. Abschliessen mochte ich meine Hausarbeit, mit dem Versuch, einen Losungsweg aus der momentan kaum hoffnungsvollen Lage, aufzeige
