Imagine mathematics, imagine with the help of mathematics, imagine new worlds, new geometries, new forms. The new volume in the series "Imagine Math" is intended to contribute to grasping how much that is interesting and new is happening in the relationships between mathematics, imagination and culture. The present book begins with the connections between mathematics, numbers, poetry and music, with the latest opera by Italian composer Claudio Ambrosini. This work contains the proceedings of the "Mathematics and Culture" conference held in Venice in March 2002. The conference aims to act as a bridge across the various aspects of human knowledge. Si parla di fumetti nel libro del 2004 con quella che sta diventando una tradizione con il fumetto stile Disney del 2003 e del grafico olandese Maurits Cornelis Escher, anzi si "vedono" alcune delle immagini che sono state realizzate in animazione. Si parla del sogno di un uomo, di Gaud, della grande ambizione di ascendere verso il cielo con la cattedrale di Barcellona; di come quel sogno si stia realizzando. Di teatro, di cinema si parla, ovviamente. Dell interessante spettacolo di Luca Vigan e del teatro di Genova su Evariste Galois. E anche della America?'s Cup, di come dei matematici abbiano contribuito alla vittoria della barca Svizzera nella pi importante avventura velica del mondo. Si parla di guerra e di pace, un argomento che non cessa mai di essere attuale. La collana Matematica e cultura, attraverso un cammino iniziato dieci anni fa, in modo sempre nuovo, sorprendente e affascinante prova a descrivere influenze e legami esistenti tra il mondo della matematica e quello dell aeronautica, della medicina, della biologia, ma anche dell arte, del cinema, del teatro, della letteratura o della storia.
L'opera e il risultato del convegno "Matematica e Cultura" tenutosi a Venezia nel marzo 2001. This seventh volume starts with a homage to the Italian artist Mimmo Paladino who created exclusively for the Venice Conference 2019 ten original and unique works of art paper dedicated to the themes of the meeting. A large section is dedicated to the most recent Fields Medals including a Homage to Maryam Mirzakhani including a presentation of the exhibition on soap bubbles in art and science that took place in 2019. The world, life, culture, everything has changed in a few weeks with the Coronavirus. Culture, science are the main ways to safeguard people's physical and social life. Trust in humanity's creativity and ability. The motto today in Italy is Everything will be fine.This work is addressed to all those who have an interest in Mathematics.
