In the past five years the culturally diverse and historically rich Asian countries have seen a revolution in architecture. The world of architecture has been witnessing the emergence of independent designers and a number of new stars ? and above all breathtaking new and exciting buildings. This generously illustrated volume from the Collection series provides an overview of the transformation of Asian architecture as cultures move towards a synthesis of ideas and styles reconciling tradition and modernity. Top new contemporary projects also by architects from other countries were selected to show the extent of Asian influences on other cultures.
Cute little bears in all different colours, grinning elephants and cuddly mice cavorting on the padding on the changing table, the winter parka, the playhouse: the design quality of products for children frequently leaves much to be desired. But fortunately the examples are increasing of child appropriate design with style. This is of course not simply a matter of satisfying the aesthetic demands of the adults: It is more about an attractive product design which makes sense for children and their development. This volume presents products for children which allow children to be children. Such products must of course also be functional and stable. But it is at least as important that they playfully incite their phantasy and creativity while encouraging their capabilities and potentials. They should also be a source of pleasure for the potential design lovers of tomorrow. The products presented include toys, baby carriages, furniture, clothing, shoes and much more in the categories of living, fashion and playtime.
This book compiles contemporary designs worldwide that break through the stereotype of doctor's practices as cold and often stressful environments. All projects aim at balancing medical technology and functionality with the need to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for the patients, visitors and staff. Apart from general practitioner's offices, those of dentists and a wide variety of specialists are also presented. The solutions range from practice design in an existing building to entirely new buildings for one or more offices. Doctor's Practices demonstrates today's architectural responses to the complex demands of healthcare ? a very fast-developing field.
This volume which is part of the Interior Design series crosses the threshold to reveal an evocative and inspiring combination of the traditional and the contemporary ? from the floral and romantic to the bold, playful and quirky British interiors juxtaposed with soft colored textiles and walls of modern art. This book compilation features 50 of the best British interior design projects in different categories to reflect the deeply entrenched history and such familiar-to-the-point-of-predictable iconography that stand at the leading edge of interior design. British Interior Design embraces international styles and influences as much as its own.
