Two strong-willed sisters fight their way to forgiveness in this
feel-good Southern fiction, for fans of Terry McMillan and KJ
Dell'Antonia's The Chicken Sisters. Sisters Rose Tillman and
Marvina Nash haven't spoken in decades-not since Rose sent Marvina
$40 to register their business and Marvina spent it on something
else. Rose begins a long career at the post office and Marvina
spends her weekends cooking chicken dinners for the church
fundraiser. Marvina never leaves the canister of their mama's
special spice mix in the church kitchen, and she shares the recipe
with no one. Rose never forgave Marvina for that $40 betrayal, but
when she retires, she's still dreaming of opening a restaurant with
her sister, using mama's secret spice mix to make their fortune in
fried chicken and Southern comfort food. To her horror, Rose
realizes she's forgotten the spice mix recipe. There's nothing to
do but get in her car to drive the two hours to Marvina's house
back in Fork City, Texas. Marvina's determined never to speak to
Rose again, but figures she'll meet her on the doorstep to hear
what she has to say, before closing the door in her face. Of
course, that's not what happens next, as the sisters find a way to
turn their mama's legacy into a bright new future for their whole
community.
Right man...wrong color? LaShondra has done the work on herself
first. She's gotten her education and, more importantly, developed
a strong relationship with Christ. Now, she's ready for a man-but
not just any man. She wants a Boaz, a godly man...who's gainfully
employed...and it would hurt if he looked good, too. God answers
with three out of three, but there's a twist: her perfect man,
Stelson Brown, isn't African-American. While LaShondra's parents
are happy about her professional success, they're chomping at the
bit for her to get married. Her father (who wouldn't even let her
bring her white friends home from school) and her mother (who's
gets word about the white man through the church folk grapevine)
will have more than a few words for her when they find out-if
LaShondra ever gets around to telling her family and friends about
Stelson. The racial climate at LaShondra's job isn't helping the
situation. LaShondra suspects that the principal is buffering
grades for certain students. Can she keep her integrity while
keeping her job as vice principal? Boaz Brown is the first novel of
bestselling novelist Michelle Stimpson. In essence, it launched her
career as a writer and is still one of her best-loved works.

In this sequel to Michelle Stimpson's beloved debut novel, Boaz
Brown, LaShondra and her Boaz, Stelson, are living the ideal
American lifestyle, except for the subtle and not-so-subtle ways
society keeps reminding them that they aren't the norm. She's
African-American, he's Caucasian, and their oldest child is already
tackling the question of identity. It's bad enough when outsiders
show their ignorance or disdain. But when the issues come from
family, LaShondra finds herself wondering if Stelson can truly
comprehend the challenges looming on the horizon. When a church
picnic leads to a head-on clash between LaShondra's fears and
Stelson's optimism, the truth prevails. But that's just the
beginning. LaShondra learns that the drama during the family outing
was only a set-up for an even more rigorous spiritual battle to
save her family. After turning her back to the pressures at work
and yielding to Stelson's leadership, LaShondra finds herself
interceding for a husband she hardly even recognizes anymore. Is
this the beginning of the end for the couple that truly endeavored
to honor God's ways, or will this season fortify their marriage for
His glory?

Mark has been pastoring New Vision church for six years now, and
all his hard work is about to pay off as the church approaches
mega-church status. But while Mark has been busy building the
church, his own household has been crumbling to pieces. After
ignoring divine guidance, Mark finds himself caught up in the
appearance of a scandal that threatens to tear the church apart.
And his wife's secrets only add insult to near-fatal injury. Sharla
would have done just about anything to be a mother...and, actually,
she did. She was willing to pay the price for her mistakes, but she
never dreamed someone else might have to suffer instead. How close
can she come to confessing her past without jeopardizing her
future? Stepping Down is the eighth full-length novel from National
Bestselling Author Michelle Stimpson. As the granddaughter of a
pastor and the great-granddaughter of a bishop, she explores a
conflict many spiritual leaders still encounter today. Readers will
enjoy this fast-paced, hard-hitting novel that addresses the
ageless question: How can a man run the church if he can't run his
own household?
*Essence Magazine Bestseller* After being blamed for her baby
sister's death, Dianne Rucker swore she'd never come back to
Dentonville, Texas. But her Aunt Gloria, who took her in after the
accident, is getting remarried. Going back home means Dianne must
face her own demons as well as a drug-addicted mother who is now
falling even farther into schizophrenia. But Dianne isn't the only
one struggling. Her two cousins must come to terms with their own
issues after having grown up in this dysfunctional family of women.
And Aunt Gloria may be hiding the biggest skeletons of all. The
women must look to their faith in God as they attempt to turn their
lives around like Saul on the Biblical road to Damascus.
What wife hasn't second-guessed herself after a heated discussion
or yet another curious incident of the missing remote control? In
addition to the title's question, this book discusses those
unspoken thoughts lurking in the back of even Christian women's
minds, such as: We've Grown Apart I'm Just Not That Into Sex I Miss
the Thrill of Being Single I Love My Husband, but I'm Not In Love
Watching My Parents Probably Messed Me Up While these silent
ponderings might seem harmless, they have the potential to create a
negative undercurrent of resentment if not specifically addressed
in prayer. Stimpson tackles tough questions about wifehood in this
short, humorous book of wisdom for the
not-so-in-love-with-my-husband days.
