"A lot of people tell me that I'm a negative person. But I feel
pretty optimistic about the world coming to an end. No more people,
equals no more work, and that's just fine with me." Life is tough
for Tommy Nolan. He desires nothing more than a simple existence,
but that seems nearly impossible after the loss of his father and
the continued absence of his daughter. For the past year, Tommy has
been struggling daily to maintain his sanity-because each new day
just seems to be worse than the last. In his attempt to cope, Tommy
lives with his best friend Shep, a charismatic local celebrity who
loves good women, good friends, and a good time at any cost.
Neither Tommy nor Shep have any true ambitions except to maintain
some sort of stability in a world that seems to be falling apart.
Both men work for an exploitative housing development company,
Hovboro Enterprises, that is seemingly destroying everything in its
path. But before Tommy and Shep can rid the world of organizations
like Hovboro, the two friends have their own demons to confront in
this story of friendship, misfortune, and survival.
