WWII crime thriller starring Billy Zane. Commandeering a former royal castle on the outskirts of Frankfurt in 1945, army lovers Colonel Jack Durant (Zane) and Lt. Kathleen Nash (Lyne Renee) uncover a secret horde of priceless gems. Determined to smuggle their prize back into the US, their plans soon run into complications, however, at the hands of military investigators and a particularly ruthless underworld don.
Austerity was presented as the antidote to sluggish economies, but it has had far-reaching effects on jobs and employment conditions. With an international team of editors and authors from Europe, North America and Australia, this illuminating collection goes beyond a sole focus on public sector work and uniquely covers the impact of austerity on work across the private, public and voluntary spheres. Drawing on a range of perspectives, the book engages with the major debates surrounding austerity and neoliberalism, providing grounded analysis of the everyday experience of work and employment.
New Zealand has experienced both sweeping economic and social reform and growing poverty and income inequality in the last twenty years, re-enacting claims of a social laboratory, but rather different from the 1930s. The reforms include changes in social security provision and coverage. This book explores these social security changes in the context of widening national and international poverty and inequality. It argues that the policy initiatives have altered the nature of social security and in doing so have significantly transformed the nature of social citizenship. The author brings the New Zealand data together in a way that has not been done previously and provides the reader with both a detailed discussion of the work on poverty and living standards in New Zealand and the political and economic context within which social security changes have occurred.Linking the discussion to international changes in social security and to the international literature on poverty and inequality, the author demonstrates the important implications the New Zealand directions have for the development of social security internationally. The book will be invaluable reading for those who want to widen their understanding and knowledge about social security reform Down Under and its development in a neoliberal and Third Way environment. Equally significantly it will be of considerable interest for all those interested in international reshaping of state support for the poorest and most vulnerable and will contribute to those debates and analysis.
Out to prove his friends catastrophic view of America wrong, the author researched generations of American finance and culture. The book builds a strong case that shows why America is already over. Four hallmarks identify the end of the red white and blue including some that are already in place. In a first of its kind, the author moves beyond the end of America, to show how sex, guns and money separate Americans into eight new nations. The new nations scramble for their share of America's assets, including everything from the gold in Ft. Knox to nuclear bombs. The eight new nations, have new laws, ranging from biblical to futuristic. Like it or not, things are going to change. Are you ready for your new nation, or will you make a choice and move?

This is not a novel. It is more of a reference work. It does not have to be read from beginning to end, although you can do that. It is meant to be a sort of primer of life, with a strong emphasis on the Bible, also known as "The Word." You may already know that book as a huge best seller. So the essays are roughly arranged by subject in alphabetical order, like an encyclopedia or dictionary. Not designed for cover to cover reading. But the ideas are related, complex, and sometimes it is hard to find just what you are looking for in the way of answers. The focus of this small book is part evangelistic. It is also partly related to the work that Christians who are already saved need to be about in God''s Kingdom work. It is also about the big issues in all our lives: happiness, sorrow, meaning, survival, and answers to the Great Questions that transcend even Life and Death. If you''re not a Christian, I suggest that you read "Doubting Thomas," and "Smokin" first. If you already accept Jesus as our Savior, but wonder what to do, read "Executor," or just start leafing through the essays until you find something that grabs you.
