This volume contains the proceedings of the Europhysics Conference on Gels, held in Balatonszeplak, Hungary, in September 1995.
Topics of the contributions cover fundamentals and applications of gels formed from inorganic and organic polymers, colloidal particles and surfactant systems, new powerful methods such as scattering techniques, rheology, atomic microscopy, swelling pressure and mechanical measurements, gels with sensitivity to changes in chemical and physical environment, novel technical and biomedical applications, computer simulation and new theoretical approaches.

This volume contains a selection of the papers presented at the 8th Conference on Colloid Chemistry. It was hosted by the Hungarian Chemical Society and organized by Budapest University of Technology and Economics and was held in Keszthely, Hungary in September 2002. A colloidal approach to nano science was one of the main topics of the meeting. It was revealed that the colloid science provides a strong background of the modern material science and nanotechnology. This volume is intended for professionals doing fundamental research or development of industrial applications, who encounter colloid particles, colloid structures, and interface phenomena during their work.

Szigeti veszedelem recounts in epic fashion the Battle of Szigetvar, in which a vastly outnumbered Croatian-Hungarian army tried to resist a Turkish invasion. The battle concluded when Captain Zrinyi's forces, having been greatly depleted, left the fortress walls in a famous onslaught. Approximately four hundred troops forayed into the Turkish camp. The epic concludes with Zrinyi killing Sultan Suleiman I, before being gunned down by janissaries. Being in the epic tradition, specifically modeled on the Iliad, it opens with an invocation of a muse (in this case, the Virgin Mary), and often features supernatural elements.

This is a reproduction of a book published before 1923.
