The late vibraphonist Milt Jackson (1923-1999) is a towering figure
in jazz history, a vibrant and elegant player and bandleader who
pioneered the application of bebop to his instrument. DA CAPO is a
superb cross-section of Jackson's career from the late '40s through
the mid-1950s, including the formation of the popular Modern Jazz
Quartet, of which he was a charter member. In addition to MJQ
members John Lewis and Percy Heath, guitarist Barney Kessel,
innovative pianist Thelonious Monk, and Afro-Cuban jazz legend
Chano Pozo also appear.
