Fluid-Solid Interactions in Upstream Oil and Gas Applications,
Volume 78 delivers comprehensive understanding of fluid-rock
interactions in oil and gas reservoirs and their impact on
drilling, production, and reservoir hydrocarbon management. The
book is arranged based on intervals of the oil and gas production
process and introduces the basics of reservoir fluids and their
properties, along with the rheological behavior of solid-fluid
systems across all stages of the reservoir, including drilling
processes, acidizing, and fracking. The reference then addresses
different application-specific issues, such as solid-fluid
interactions in tight reservoirs, the applications of
nanoparticles, interactions during the EOR processes, and
environmental concerns.
Carbon-Based Metal Free Catalysts: Preparation, Structural and
Morphological Property and Application covers the different aspects
of carbon-based metal free catalysts, including the fabrication of
catalysts from natural sources and carbon allotropes, their
manufacturing and design, characterization techniques, and
applications. Special features in the book include illustrations
and tables which summarize up-to-date information on research
carried out on manufacturing, design, characterization and
applications of metal free catalysts. This book assembles the
information and knowledge on metal free catalysts and emphasizes
the concept of green technology in the field of manufacturing and
design. It is an ideal reference source for lecturers, students,
researchers and industrialists working in the field of new catalyst
development, especially polymer composites and is a valuable
reference book handbook for teaching, learning, and research.
This collection includes the analysis, development, and operation
of high-temperature processes that involve the extraction and
processing of material resources, production, and treatment of
metals, alloys, and ceramic materials. Contributions describe
innovative methods for achieving property enhancement, impurity
segregation and removal, byproduct recovery, waste minimization,
energy efficiency, and utilization of complex ores. Also included
are various technical, economic, and environmental issues
associated with commercial-scale high-temperature processing
methods.
The conventional induction heating method, used for heat treatment
of parts has been customized as a novel method for heat assisted
machining of metallic materials. This method is very clean and of
low cost compared to laser heating. The method is especially
applicable in milling operations with high width of cut, which a
single laser can not cover and there is a need of employing
multiple lasers. Heating time is very short and only the skin of
the work piece is heated and removed during machining. Cutting
forces are low due to lower yield strength of the materials at
elevated temperature, chatter is damped and surface roughness and
tool wear are low. This innovative method if applied to the
industry would lead to higher productivity and lower cost of
machining.
Understanding Islamic law is crucial not only for Muslims, but for
non-Muslims who work with Muslims in legal contexts as well as for
anyone wanting to understand the role of Islam in the world today.
For unlike western legal systems where religious and legal spheres
are kept separate, Islamic law is all-encompassing, directing all
human actions. Legal scholar Hisham Ramadan brings together
articles to give an excellent overview of the formation of Islamic
law and its role in contemporary Islamic and Non-Islamic states.
Following an overview of Islamic Law, chapters cover Islamic
criminal law, International Humanitarian Law, contract law, &
family law. A concluding essay offers an explanation of the legal
value of Islam and appendices include original Islamic legal
documents from Muhammad's time until today.
