Preventing Sexual Harm provides an overview of current criminal
justice strategies for tackling sexual violence, and highlights
existing positive criminological approaches that could help prevent
sexual abuse and harm. Sexual violence is a complex, multi-faceted
crime. Its causes and consequences are both multiple and enduring
and our understanding of sexual violence is embedded within our
social, cultural, and political constructs. As such, a response to
sexual violence ought to be equally complex and multi-faceted.
Alternative approaches might therefore be needed, such as positive
criminology. This book explores positive criminology as a mechanism
to reduce the risk of recidivism, eradicate harm, prevent
reoffending as well as to help reintegrate those with histories of
sexual abuse back into the community. In light of recent historic
cases of sexual abuse and poor institutional response to these
allegations, it opens with an overview of the current landscape of
sexual offending. The book then reviews the current positive
criminological approaches already in existence in the effort to
prevent sexual abuse by outlining the approach of positive
criminology and by demonstrating the many gaps in practice that
might benefit from this new way of working to prevent sexual abuse.
By highlighting that an alternative response to sexual violence is
needed, and by presenting the idea that a positive criminological
paradigm is worthy of further examination, this book will be of
great interest to scholars of criminology, criminal justice, and
forensic psychology.
This book offers rich ethnographic and narrative accounts of men
who have been engaged in serious violence and organised crime in
the West Midlands of England, using several theoretical paradigms.
Through case study examples, it also considers contract killers and
the nefarious position that 'hitmen' occupy in the criminal
underworld. By charting insider perspectives from retired law
enforcement agents, informants, ex-military personnel and
ex-offenders, this book speaks to those who have a vested interest
in violence, organised crime and ethnography.

Explores the transformation of waterfronts from industrial hubs to
urban playgrounds through the lenses of preservation, governance,
economics, ecology, and more Presents chapter-length case studies
drawn from cities in China, Bangladesh, Turkey, the United States,
Malaysia, the European Union, Egypt, and other countries Includes
contributions from an interdisciplinary team of international
scholars and professionals, a much-needed corrective to the
historical exclusion of researchers and issues from the Global
South An ideal reference for graduate students, scholars, and
professionals in real estate, urban planning and design, property
development, urban studies, tourism, urban geography, and more
This book describes the past, present and future of dialysis and
dialysis-related renal replacement therapies so that the reader can
acquire a firm grasp of the medical management of acute and chronic
renal failure.
By becoming thoroughly conversant with the past and present of
dialysis, a health care professional will be in a much better
position to provide the best standard of care to patients suffering
from renal failure. As the book highlights the unsolved operational
obstacles in the field of renal replacement therapies, future
innovators may be inspired to develop novel solutions to tackle
these problems. This remarkable work is a must-read not just for
health care providers in the dialysis industry, but for patients,
dialysis equipment manufacturers as well as pharmaceutical
companies.
It gives me immense pleasure in introducing my first book named as
"High-Pressure ElectroChemistry and Applications" based on my PhD
works. This book explained on newly self-developed high-pressure
instruments combined with available Electro- analyzers. This deals
with electrochemical aspects of the development and applications of
HP-EQCM. The discussion of these aspects develops through the
fundamentals of electrochemical experiments (CV, EQCM) separately
or simultaneously in HP-system via the interaction of
electrochemical behaviors to finally include the interfacing of the
high-pressure chemistry world. The final focus is investigated on
the construction and applications by HP- EQCM from 14.7 ( 1 atm) to
25000 PSi. I worked consistently for almost four years to
accomplish this work under the proper guidance of my respective PhD
supervisor. I hope that this work would further enhance the
electrochemistry, especially in bringing new entrants into the
high-pressure electrochemistry fields and help scientists to
pick-up/forward and develop their own field of specialization.
There are bound to be a few lapses in the work of this magnitude
It gives me immense pleasure to announcing my 2nd book named as
"Photo-Fenton's Degradation of Malachite Green Dye" based on my
master works. This book explained on newly introduced
Photo-Fenton's degradation of MG dye for complete mineralization in
homogeneous medium in presence of radiation sources. The untreated
dyes in effluents from dyeing factories and leather industries are
a group of hazardous chemicals as well as important sources of
water pollution. Dyes undergo chemicals as well as biological
changes in the aquatic system, consume dissolved oxygen and thus
interrupt the aquatic echo- system. This method provided an
economical and fast approach in the mineralization of textile
pollutants and could be useful for the large scale photo-
degradation of the industrial effluents. I worked consistently for
almost two years to carry out this work under the proper guidance
of my respective master supervisors. I hope that this work would
further enhance the Photo-catalysis, especially in bringing new
contestants into the Photo-Chemistry fields and help scientists to
look forward and extend their own-view of specialization.
