In the early 1930's, rural schools spotted the landscape of
Alberta, Canada. Serving children from grades one through nine,
these one-roomed country schools traditionally had teachers who had
themselves attended a one-roomed school, and were familiar with the
one-classroom environment. However in the mid 1930's, city-schooled
teachers, who were unfamiliar with the one-classroom environment,
began to teach in these rural schools. Frances A. Clark, born in
1920, was one such teacher, and her collection of stories will
delight and amuse you. A peek into the past, Frances provides us
with a charming yet informative and detailed account of what life
and education were like during the time she taught at these
schools, from 1939-1945. A invaluable and exceptional resource.
