Hazel, a retired racehorse, dreams about her old days of glory while a city-dwelling schoolgirl named Edie longs for country air and green pastures. When Edie is sent to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Idaho for the summer, she is certain she will find a horse willing to make her into a real cowgirl. But, Edie learns the hard truth that not all horses have the patience for little girls. Hazel's human, Cowboy Tony, recognizes that both Hazel and Edie need each other, though the two of them are unsure of that at first. Until, of course, their friendship grows.
