"Who says you can't go home again?
"When Beth McKenzie returns to her hometown and attempts to turn an
old Southern mansion into a bed and breakfast called The Dixie Dew,
her first guest is murdered. Three days later a young priest who
looks better in tennis whites than cleric black is found strangled
in his chapel. The whole town of Littleboro is turned upside down,
inside out, and Ossie Delbardo, the town cop whose job heretofore
mainly involved controlling football traffic on Friday nights, is
not cut out to solve the murders. Beth fears her newly opened
B&B is in danger of failing. She's even more worried that she
is Ossie's number one suspect. Aided by her friend from high school
and trusty handyman, she sets out to discover the truth of the
murders.
Littleboro has its share of characters, some of which are helpful
and others misleading. There's Crazy Reba who lives in a tree,
bathes in any bathtub she finds empty, and Dumpster dives; Verna,
the town know-it-all and affectionate owner of Robert Redford, a
huge white rabbit; and Miss Tempie Merritt, music teacher and
organist who always wears hat, gloves, and lace-trimmed white
socks. When Beth herself is attacked, there's no more time for
baking muffins and stenciling pineapples on the porch. She's in a
race to uncover her neighbors' secrets before her hometown becomes
her burial ground.
"Doing It at the Dixie Dew" is a charming and delightful debut.

Debbie Moose's Southern Holidays is a cook's celebration of the
richly diverse holiday traditions of today's South. Covering big
traditional holidays such as Christmas and Mardi Gras, this
must-have addition to the Savor the South cookbook collection also
branches out into regional and cultural holidays that honor newer
southern traditions, including recipes from real cooks hailing from
a range of ethnic traditions and histories. The cooks' stories
accompanying the recipes show how holiday foods not only hold
cherished personal family memories but also often have roots in a
common past that ties families together in a shared southern
history. The cookbook's inclusive culinary vision is organized by
the four seasons to mark the progress of the year. Featuring
seventeen holidays and fifty recipes, it includes such classics as
Coconut King Cake for Mardi Gras and Smoky Red Rice for Juneteenth,
as well as southern twists on time-honored delicacies, from
Cajun-Style Rice Dressing for Thanksgiving to Sweet Potato Latkes
for Hanukkah. Southern Holidays also highlights how international
holiday dishes have been adopted in the region over time, from
Moravian Sugar Cake for Christmas to Vietnamese Spring Rolls for
the coastal South's Blessing of the Fleet.
Brilliantly funny misheard lyrics and outrageous earworms 'Six
o'clock already I was just in the middle of a dream. I was kissing
Danny DeVito by a crystal blue Italian stream.' 'I was loooking for
some action and all I found were cygnets and a waterfall.' 'When I
get that feeling I need saxophone cleaning.' Funny, surreal, absurd
and occasionally embarrassing, everyone has a misheard lyric
moment. From simple mistakes like 'If you don't Naomi by now. You
will never never Naomi', to something completely off the wall
'Specs and rugs and sausage rolls, are all my mind and body needs'
- these linguistic gaffes have been the source of fun ever since
the dawn of popular music. Now everyone's favourite online goon -
the one and only @trouteyes has amassed a heap of his own wonky
earworms for our reading pleasure in this wonderful hashtag fire
emoji humour book.

WHERE DID IT COME FROM, AND HOW CAN WE BEAT IT?
It's 15,000 times smaller than a flea and we can kill it with a bar of soap – so how did a tiny, fragile virus change the world?
Join science expert Dr Ben Martynoga and illustrator extraordinaire Moose Allain on a fascinating, sometimes funny, and occasionally scary journey through the world of viruses.
Explore the science behind viruses and the COVID-19 pandemic in a fascinating story of hijacked human cells and our own internal emergency services.
Along the way, you'll learn what viruses are, how they work, and how we can overcome – or at least learn to live alongside – those that do us harm.
