The roots of Typha elephantina (Fam: Typhaceae) was subjected to phytochemical screening and pharmacological examination.The phytochemical screening showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, quinones, glycosides and carbohydrates. Because of an overall rise in health care costs, lack of uniformity in drug prescribing and the emergence of antibiotic resistance, monitoring and control of antibiotic use are of growing concern and strict antibiotic policies should be warranted. Before such policies can be implemented, detailed knowledge of antibiotic prescribing practice is important. The reemerging interest in prescribing decision support reflects the recent change in emphasis from support for diagnostic decisions towards support for patient management and from systems targeting a broad range of clinical diagnoses to task-specific and condition-specific decision aids. According to the study, antibiotics of cephalosporin group are the most popular today. Among all the available dosage forms, injections seem to be the most widely used form for antibiotics in the hospitals. The outcome of this study says that, the potent and broad-spectrum antibiotics are most frequently used in Dhaka City.

The present study was performed to investigate the anti-fertility and abortive effects of the pulp constituents of Ananus comosus L.In case of the Anti-fertility activity, ethanol extract and ethyl acetate extract showed better anti-fertility effect on mice when given on alternative days. In case of Abortive activity, ethanol extract and ethyl acetate extract showed best abortive effect on mice when given on consecutive days.The preliminary phytochemical screening showed the presence of alkaloids and steroids.The study showed that the plant can be used as contraceptive which is more effective and less toxic and used as traditional medicine.

Dhaka is now one of the fastest growing cities of the world. With its huge population and fast growth rate, Dhaka is facing the daunting task of accommodating huge number of population every year. Internal structure, the urban settings or spatial organization of land use in relation to CBD, of a city is of great importance as it intrinsically endeavors to govern city's function, define how people will move, how people will have the accessibility to work place, daily necessities, open space etc. It is argued that urban forms have close relationship with sustainability and a compact urban form is a sustainable urban form. Under these circumstances, this study looks into the possibility of adopting a compact urban form as a growth option for Dhaka. As Dhaka is a polycentric city. Three CBD have been selected based on the commercial activity for this study purpose. GIS based maps have been used to calibrate and analyze the various indicators that define urban structure. Findings of the study shows that the value of indicators are of great disparity compared to the standard value as well as compared to the other countries of the world.
