How Black Christians, Muslims, and Jews have used media to prove
their equality, not only in the eyes of God but in society. The
institutional structures of white supremacy-slavery, Jim Crow laws,
convict leasing, and mass incarceration-require a commonsense
belief that black people lack the moral and intellectual capacities
of white people. It is through this lens of belief that racial
exclusions have been justified and reproduced in the United States.
Televised Redemption argues that African American religious media
has long played a key role in humanizing the race by unabashedly
claiming that blacks are endowed by God with the same gifts of
goodness and reason as whites-if not more, thereby legitimizing
black Americans' rights to citizenship. If racism is a form of
perception, then religious media has not only altered how others
perceive blacks, but has also altered how blacks perceive
themselves. Televised Redemption argues that black religious media
has provided black Americans with new conceptual and practical
tools for how to be in the world, and changed how black people are
made intelligible and recognizable as moral citizens. In order to
make these claims to black racial equality, this media has
encouraged dispositional changes in adherents that were at times
empowering and at other times repressive. From Christian
televangelism to Muslim periodicals to Hebrew Israelite radio,
Televised Redemption explores the complicated but critical
redemptive history of African American religious media.

INSTANT NATIONAL BESTSELLER! A vivid trip through the mind of the
top professional wrestler in the business-a nobody from nowhere who
achieved his ambitions and walked away with the gold and the girl
of his dreams. Ride alongside Jon Moxley as he retraces some of the
highways traveled on his remarkable journey. Revel in the
never-before-told stories about his early life in Cincinnati, Ohio;
the gritty independent wrestling scene where he cut his teeth; the
complicated corporate landscape of the WWE where he bucked against
authority; and the rebellious upstart AEW, where he won the
championship in 2020 and was finally free to achieve the vision of
the wrestler he'd always wanted to be. With plenty of pitstops and
revelatory insights, including grisly ultraviolent encounters,
crazy characters who became lifelong friends, and his unforgettable
matches in Japan, MOX is the riveting account of the life of a
brawler. It is a tale written in blood and soaked in debauchery,
with a good dose of wisdom accumulated along the way. More than a
backstage pass into the arena, MOX is a ticket into the ring. Once
inside, you'll never look at pro wrestling the same again.

Electronic Theses and Dissertations examines how electronic
publication of theses and dissertations might enhance graduate
education. This text clarifies the composition, evaluation,
dissemination, and preservation of electronic theses and
dissertations (ETDs), and provides a conceptual framework for the
development of effective ETD programs. It identifies the main
technical concerns related to the adoption of ETD initiatives and
contains answers and methods that have proven effective in the
longest-running library-group support effort for campus ETDs,
making it the foremost guide to the latest innovations, practices,
and policies in ETD production, distribution, and
institutionalization.
This text consists of a debate between a political theorist and an
economist on decision making in housing. Each author develops a
normative argument linking theoretical and policy analyses to
establish the abilities of the state and individuals to determine
housing outcomes. The issues of redistribution and choice are seen
as crucial to this debate. Following these initial contributions,
the authors engage with each other on specific proposals for the
reform of housing policy in the UK.

100 Best Poems for Children is a unique treasure trove. From the hundreds of poems originally chosen by children themselves, Roger McGough has selected an irresistible top one hundred every child should have. Arranged alphabetically, this glorious collection offers a fantastic voyage of discovery. Here you'll find Dr Seuss rubbing shoulders with Shakespeare, Roald Dahl sharing a page with Walter de la Mare, and Michael Rosen sitting next to Christina Rossetti. With a wealth of contemporary and classic verse, there is something for everyone.
This book will advance readers' understanding of the knowledge
development, building and/or management process within human
service organizations, informed by the author's experience in human
service organizations, as consultant, and practitioner. Readers can
come to understand the knowledge building process, and gain a
conceptual framework in building organizational knowledge for the
advancement of human services practice. The importance of knowledge
management in social welfare and human service is twofold.
Knowledge management is about an organization managing what it
knows in order to achieve more competent and more effective
performance. It also is about how domains and fields of practice
may transform themselves over time through the purposeful creation
and destruction of knowledge. Knowledge management can be a
cornerstone of today's human service and social welfare
organizations and may be a principal strategy for effecting
innovation and evolution in the ways societies address and meet
human needs.

'Pleasure,' Jennifer Moxley writes in her introduction to this
volume, 'is the word that first comes to mind at the mention of
Nicole Brossard's poetry.' This volume provides English-language
readers with an overview of the life and work of Nicole Brossard,
poet, novelist, and essayist, who is widely recognized in her
native Quebec and throughout the French-speaking world as one of
the greatest writers of her generation. Brossard's poetry is rooted
in her investigations of language, her abiding commitment to a
feminist consciousness, and her capacity for renewing meaning as a
virtual space of desire. The reader enters a poetic world in which
the aesthetic is joined with the political, and the meaning of both
is enriched in the process. The selections in this volume include
translations of some of Brossard's best-known works - "Lovhers",
"Ultra Sounds", 'Museum of Bone and Water", "Notebook of Roses and
Civilization" - along with short prose works, an interview with
Brossard, and a bibliography of works in French and English, and
constitute the most substantial English-language sampling published
to date of one of Canada's greatest living poets.
