This book presents cutting-edge work on real-time modelling and
processing, a highly active research field in both the research and
industrial domains. Going beyond conventional real-time systems,
major efforts are required to develop accurate and computational
efficient real-time modelling algorithms and design automation
tools that reflect the technological advances in high-speed and
ultra-low-power transceiver communication architectures based on
nanoscale devices. The book addresses basic and more advanced
topics, such as I/O buffer circuits for ensuring reliable
chip-to-chip communication, I/O buffer behavioural modelling,
multiport empirical models for memory interfaces, compact
behavioural modelling for memristive devices, and resource
reservation modelling for distributed embedded systems. The
respective chapters detail new research findings, new models,
algorithms, implementations and simulations of the above-mentioned
topics. As such, the book will help both graduate students and
researchers understand the latest research into real-time modelling
and processing.
This book presents cutting-edge work on the most challenging
research issues concerning intelligent transportation systems
(ITS), introducing selected, highly relevant advanced research on
scheduling and real-time communication for vehicular networks, as
well as fault tolerance, test beds and simulations for ITS. The
authors define new architectures that support cooperative sensing
in ITS and offer guidance for the development of a reference
end-to-end implementation. The presented results allow advanced
traffic and travel management strategies to be formulated on the
basis of reliable and real-time input data. The effectiveness of
these new strategies, together with the proposed systems, is
assessed in field trials and via simulations. The chapters in this
book detail new research findings, algorithms, protocols, and the
development of an implementation platform for ITS that merges and
integrates heterogeneous data sources into a common system. In
addition, they provide a set of advanced tools for the control,
monitoring, simulation, and prediction of traffic that result in
safer, more sustainable, and less congested roads. Work undertaken
within the framework of the FP7 project ICSI (Intelligent
Cooperative Sensing for Improved traffic efficiency) is also
included in the research activities addressed.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the First
International Conference on Future Intelligent Vehicular
Technologies, Future 5V 2016, held in Porto, Portugal, in September
2016. Future 5V presents vehicular networks and communications and
also hosted the "Internet of Things (IoT) meets Big Data and Cloud
Computing Workshop". The 21 revised full papers presented were
reviewed and selected from 38 submissions. The papers cover all
aspects of intelligent vehicular communications including security
and applications.

The book covers a variety of topics in Information and
Communications Technology (ICT) and their impact on innovation and
business. The authors discuss various innovations, business and
industrial motivations, and impact on humans and the interplay
between those factors in terms of finance, demand, and competition.
Topics discussed include the convergence of Machine to Machine
(M2M), Internet of Things (IoT), Social, and Big Data. They also
discuss AI and its integration into technologies from machine
learning, predictive analytics, security software, to intelligent
agents, and many more. Contributions come from academics and
professionals around the world. Covers the most recent practices in
ICT related topics pertaining to technological growth, innovation,
and business; Presents a survey on the most recent technological
areas revolutionizing how humans communicate and interact; Features
four sections: IoT, Wireless Ad Hoc & Sensor Networks, Fog
Computing, and Big Data Analytics.
This book covers topics related to medical practices from
communications technology point of view. The book provides detailed
inside information about the use of health informatics and emerging
technologies for the well-being of patients. Each chapter in this
book focuses on a specific development in the use of informatics in
healthcare. In general, each chapter uses various emerging
technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Cloud
computing, Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN), for various
health-related illness, such as tuberculosis, heart diseases,
asthma and various epidemic outbreaks. The book is intended both
for communications engineers with a healthcare focus and medical
researchers.
Youth is the main power of any country for its socioeconomic
development. Pakistan's majority of the population consists on
youth. Youth Crime is an imperative problem in every part of the
country according to current situation. But, unfortunately it has
been observed that the involvement of the youth in criminal
activities is increasing at alarming rate, which is bad for any
nation or country. It is understood that youth plays important role
in the development of any nation or country. Youth is energetic and
quick decision makers and due to this dynamic capability it always
has been the heart of any nation. In this way, if youth begin to
involve in criminal activities then the development of nation or
country begin to slow down. In Pakistan youth crime is becoming
gigantic problem day by day. The study was carried out to assess
the phenomenon of crime and socio-economic factors of youth crime
prevailing in the society. The study revealed that large number of
criminals came from low socio-economic community; therefore they
cannot fulfill their basic needs so they commit crime for the
fulfillment of their basic needs. Therefore opportunities should be
there for youth development.
The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is the technology that merges the
Internet with the cellular world. The existing session
establishment scenario of IMS suffers from triangular routing for a
certain period of time when an end user is mobile. The other
problem areas in optimizing presence service, dimensioning a
push-to-talk over cellular service and analyzing service rates of
instant messaging relay extensions in IMS are identified. In order
to mitigate the drawbacks of these crucial aspects, this book
contributes with a robust scheduler to improve performance of the
presence service, several derived models to dimension push-to-talk
over cellular service, a new mechanism to reduce cost for the
session set ups in mobile environment and the evaluation of message
blocking and stability in instant messaging service by applying
queuing theories. The analysis of performance enhancements and the
derived models of this book should help shed some light on the
emerging environment of IMS infrastructure. They should also be
very useful to professionals who may be considering pursuing
research in the field of wireless communications and mobility
management using stochastic process.
