In this extraordinary and beautifully-written autobiography, Asad
tells of his initial rejection of all institutional religions, his
entree into Taoism, his fascinating travels as a diplomat, and
finally his embrace of Islam.

A Sourcebook of Themes from the Holy Qur'an. It offers 265 selections of verses, presented in a fresh contemporary translation of high literary quality, with accompanying interpretations by leading Muslim intellectuals, including Muhammad Asad, Yusuf Ali, and others. Formerly titled The Vision of the Qur'an.
One hundred cases of various types of angina pectoris in two hospitals of Narowal during September 2008 to January 2009 had been analyzed to determine the relative occurrence and incidence of angina pectoris, and effects of various risk factors. The analysis shows that silent angina pectoris were more prevalent (79%, n=79/100), and painful angina pectoris were less prevalent (21%, n=21/100). About 56% cases reported, belong to the age class 41-60 years with a higher incidence of silent angina pectoris. Angina pectoris is more prevalent in females (65.00%) as compared to males (35.00%). In relation to various risk factors, silent angina pectoris is the most prevalent. The mortality rate in this sample due to angina pectoris is 12.00%.
Adaptive ¬ltering algorithms have been proposed to improve the performance in terms of their steady-state error and convergence rate. They have also been developed to counter the e¬ects of measurement noise characterised as white Gaussian. The Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm has been by far the most important in terms of its simplicity and range of applications. Thus it has been a centre point of extensive research. In particular, the time-varying step-size models of LMS have contributed immensely in the performance enhancement of LMS algorithm. By comparison the Least Mean Fourth (LMF) algorithm that gives better convergence rate in non-Gaussian noise environment has not been researched in its full spectrum. The aim of this work is to exploit the research in LMS algorithm particularly in the model of time-varying step-size parameter and extend it to the LMF. We have developed a variable step-size LMF algorithm with the aim to achieve better performance than the traditional LMF and retain its inherent dominance over the LMF in non-Gaussian noise environments.
In this work we tread upon the classical two-dimensional X-ray tomography problem modeled by the Radon transform. We have focused on the problem of simultaneously inverting the Radon transform and segmenting the density distribution into homogeneous regions directly from the sinogram data i.e. from the attenuation data of X-rays passing through the body. We have used modified Mumford-Shah model for piecewise constant densities. The segmenting curves are described by a suitable level-set function and the problem of optimal adjustment of the curves to the actual contours of objects in the density distribution is achieved combining shape sensitivity techniques with level-set based transport of geometrical objects. The novel contribution of this work is the use of second order shape sensitivity analysis to construct a Newton-type descend direction for the solution of the resulting shape optimization problem. To construct an algorithm which performs the reconstruction and segmentation simultaneously from the measured data was the prime motivation of this work.
