Triticale (Triticosecale) a hybrid of wheat (Triticum) and rye (Secale) is an important cereal crop and has more production as compared to wheat. It has gained importance in fulfilling the increased food demands of the world. For a breeding programme genetic variability and the genetic relationship among genotypes is important. To study this, 70 lines of triticale introduced from CIMMYT were planted in complete block design. Data was recorded for plant height, spike length, number of spikelets per spike, number of grains per spike, number of tillers per meter, grain yields per meter and 1000 grain weight. The data showing significant differences was subjected correlation and cluster analysis. Correlation analysis gave the results that plant height had negative and non-significant correlation with grain yield per meter. It was found that spike length had positive and significant correlation with grain yield per meter. Number of spikelets per spike and grain yield per meter was reported to have positive and significant correlation whereas number of grains per spike had positive and highly significant correlation.

Pea (Pisum sativum L.) is a green pod-bearing plant belongs to family leguminosae. Peas are highly rich in protein, manganese, dietary fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin B1 and folate. The high amount of vitamin K1 from green peas makes them very important for bone health. Peas are widely grown as a cool season vegetable crop. Pea plants are highly sensitive to the summer heat. Moringa leaf is also a rich source of ascorbates, carotenoids, phenolics, potassium and calcium which have plant growth promoting capabilities and are being applied as exogenous plant growth enhancers. Antioxidants such as ascorbic acid and glutathione, which are found at high concentrations in moringa chloroplasts and other cellular compartments, are crucial for plant defense against oxidative stress. It is therefore hypothesized that leaf extract from moringa, having a number of plant growth promoters, mineral nutrients and vitamins in a naturally balanced composition, which may promote the pea growth and extend its fruit bearing period. This study was conducted to monitor the impact of exogenous application of MLE (moringa leaf extract) on the growth and yield performance of pea.

Owing to the ever increasing pressure from population explosion, the need has arisen to improve the crop to meet the demands which have a direct relation with galloping population of the global world of 21st century. In this research, I have been searching for an efficient procedure for callus induction, regenerative ability from different explants in Citrus reticulata Blanco, in order to provide a basis for genetic improvement. I have studied the effects of different growth regulators on callus initiation from different explants and shoot and root development from calli.

The complexity of embedded systems is exploding into two interrelated but independently growing directions: architectures complexity/heterogeneity and applications complexity. On the other hand, time- to-market and design productivity factors are constantly shrinking. Consequently, the gap between system complexity and design productivity is constantly increasing. To reduce this gap, System Level Design (SLD) has shown a lot of potential. However, it still involves a substantial number of design challenges. For example, complex applications should be analyzed at higher abstraction level without any architecture directives to provide application-architecture mapping guidelines. Fast performance estimation techniques at cycle-accurate level are required to estimate the software performance on the target architecture. Similarly, the performance analysis of parallel execution on heterogeneous architectures without performing HW/SW co-simulation is an increasingly challenging problem. This book explores the holistic view of SLD to ensure an optimal and rapid design of embedded systems.

Swarm intelligence algorithms are taking the spotlight in the field of function optimization. In this book our attention centers on a new framework inspired from the food foraging behavior of honey bees. Utilizing the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm within this framework we have developed a novel algorithm called Honey Bee Foraging Particle Swarm Optimization (HBF-PSO). The HBF-PSO algorithm and its variants are suitable for solving multimodal and dynamic optimization problems. We focus on the niching and speciation capabilities of these algorithms which allow them to locate and track multiple peaks in multimodal and dynamic environments. The HBF-PSO algorithm performs a collective foraging for fitness in promising neighborhoods in combination with individual scouting searches in other areas. The strength of the algorithm lies in its continuous monitoring of the whole scouting and foraging process with dynamic relocation of the bees (solution/particles) if more promising regions are found. Those looking for a novel approach to function optimization utilizing the food foraging behavior of honey bees can benefit from the information presented in this book.

Employee turnover is an important flow of Human Resource System that effects organization. An integrated employee retention model from retention and performance perspective have been proposed and tested. The broader theoretical framework of retention couples the traditional napproach with contemporary thinking. A cross-sectional survey based study is designed to test the integrated model. Structural equation modeling analysis supports the integrated perspective.
