National Security of India and International Law is a pioneering
inter-disciplinary scholarly exercise in the context of India. It
offers first-of-its kind perspective on interplay between the
needs, concerns and interests of the national security actors,
means and institutions and inherent limitations and prospects of
international law to achieve the national security objectives of
India. The work analyses traditional and contemporary issues and
challenges - water, natural resources, refugee management, use of
force, nuclear doctrine, space developments, defense procurement
and manufacturing and private players, among others. It aims to
generate inter-disciplinary debate, teaching and research in this
emerging field of national security.
Organization and systems are real, complex entities but the science
of designing them should be simple. This book explores the process
of organization and systems design by redefining and extending
formalism capable of representing both purposeful structure and
operational needs. The author proposes the notion of deferred
action to cohere rationally designed systems with actual action.
Researchers will glean radically different epistemological and
ontological perspectives while designers will acquire entirely
different intellectual tools, principles and mechanisms of design.
Managers should learn to think of organization and systems
differently and possibly change their management approach.
This book offers an explanation of the specific ways that
biocatalysis outperforms chemical catalysis by: utilizing ambient
temperature and atmospheric pressure to minimize problems of
isomerization, racemization, and epimerization; employing microbial
cells and enzymes that can be immobilized and reused over many
cycles; and overexpressing enzymes for greater economy and
efficiency.
The global custody product was conceived out of changes to United
States pension law. In 1974, the Employee Retirement Income
Security Act came to the Statute books, forcing US pension plan
sponsors to segregate investment management and custody of the
underlying assets.
Today, service providers act for clients in many countries
worldwide, handling assets across 100 countries of investment. The
range of services is ever more sophisticated. Measured by the value
of assets held under custody, it is a multi trillion dollar
industry.
This book provides a synoptic view of the Indian Ocean and maritime
security in its contested waters. Using a historical approach, it
reveals vital links to events in the present day. The volume:
Highlights the competition between major Asian powers to control
the 'String of Pearls' - a reference to the Chinese attempts at
controlling the Indian Ocean periphery. Shows that cooperation
amongst the major powers of the region could abate the threat of
the potential of conflict becoming global and inviting external
intervention. Discusses India's Look-East policy and the deepening
relation between India and the Association of Southeast Asian
Nations (ASEAN). Argues for the need of Indian Ocean states and
particularly the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation
(SAARC) members of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) to look
afresh at their political and security issues and common interests.
Suggests measures for evolving a robust mechanism of maintaining
the Indian Ocean as a sustainable zone of commerce, energy,
security and peace rather than threat. A major contribution on a
critical area in Asian geopolitics, this volume will be useful to
scholars and researchers of international relations, politics,
defence studies and maritime security studies, along with strategic
affairs experts and think tanks.
This is one of the first volumes that uses economic tools to
analyse and evaluate law and policy in India. Applying economic
theories such as incentive analysis, cost-benefit studies, and game
theory, the essays in the volume negotiate contentious issues in
law including property, contracts, torts, nuclear liability regime,
bankruptcy law, criminal law and procedure, constitutional law,
administrative law, environmental law, and family law. A radical
take on commercial and socio-legal issues in India, this book will
greatly interest scholars and researchers of law, political
economy, and public policy.

Because enzyme-catalyzed reactions exhibit higher
enantioselectivity, regioselectivity, substrate specificity, and
stability, they require mild conditions to react while prompting
higher reaction efficiency and product yields. Biocatalysis in the
Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries examines the use of
catalysts to produce fine chemicals and chiral intermediates in a
variety of pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and other biotechnological
applications. Written by internationally recognized scientists in
biocatalysis, the authors analyze the synthesis of chiral
intermediates for over 60 brand-name pharmaceuticals for a wide
range of drug therapies and treatments. From starting material to
product, the chapters offer detailed mechanisms that show chiral
intermediates and other by-products for each reaction-including
hydrolytic, acylation, halogenation, esterification,
dehalogenation, oxidation-reduction, oxygenation, hydroxylation,
deamination, transamination, and C-C, C-N, C-O bonds formation.
Cutting-edge topics include advanced methodologies for gene
shuffling and directed evolution of biocatalysts; the custom
engineering of enzymes; the use of microbial cells and isolated
biocatalysts; the use of renewable starting materials; and
generating novel molecules by combinatorial biocatalysis and
high-throughput screening. Focusing on industrial applications, the
book also considers factors such as bulk processes,
instrumentation, solvent selection, and techniques for catalyst
immobilization, reusability, and yield optimization throughout.
Biocatalysis in the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries
showcases the practical advantages and methodologies for using
biocatalysts to develop and produce chiral pharmaceuticals and fine
chemicals.

This book discusses digital audio watermarking copyright assurance.
The author first outlines the topic of watermarking data that can
be used for copyright assurance that incorporates text messages,
copyright audio, handwritten text, logo and cell phone numbers. The
objective of this book is to propose a new algorithm that can embed
and extract the watermarking information. The execution of the
newly proposed algorithm is surveyed by testing data utilizing a
group of various audio file types and against various attacks. The
book also presents a new digital watermark algorithm that preserves
the copyright property of the audio files. To do this, the author
uses two techniques -- DWT and SVD -- with the combination of other
techniques (DFT and DSSS) to enhance security and also provide high
robustness and imperceptibility against various malicious attacks.
Current policy or scholarly literature on sustainable development
in India has been missing a vital interdisciplinary integrated link
covering four areas of knowledge: law, economics, science, and
politics. This gap has contributed to an incomplete understanding
of the whole issue and, in turn, has added resulted in
inappropriate and often unrealistic instruments being used to
achieve the lofty ideals of sustainable development. This edited
volume brings together a scholarly analysis of interdisciplinary
approaches and perspectives to the sustainable development agenda
and debates in India. The theoretical and empirical analyses
conducted by the contributors create more questions than answers,
yet an integrated whole emerging shows the future directions which
will shape the policy and theoretical debates on sustainable
development.
