Die Aufschlusselung der endogenen Komponenten im Fortpflanzungsgeschehen konnte bei Siiugern am weitesten vorangetrieben werden und erzielte in jungerer Zeit mit dem Nachweis des hypophysiotropen Releasing-Faktors LRF, seiner Strukturaufkliirung und seiner Synthese (vgl. die Zusammenfassungen von Schally u. Kastin, 1972; Schally et al., 1972; sowie Harris, 1972) einen neuen Hohepunkt. 1m Vergleich hierzu nehmen sich unsere Kenntnisse uber die entsprechenden Zusammenhiinge bei niederen Wirbeltieren eher bescheiden aus. This report presents data for samples of periphyton and water collected in 1995 and 1996 from Water Conservation Areas, the Big Cypress National Preserve, and the Everglades National Park in south Florida. Periphyton samples were analyzed for concentrations of total mercury, methyl mercury, nitrogen, phosphorus, organic carbon, and inorganic carbon . Water-column samples collected on the same dates as the periphyton samples were analyzed for concentrations of major ions.
