Commutative Harmonic Analysis IV - Harmonic Analysis in IRn (Hardcover, 1992 ed.): J. Peetre Commutative Harmonic Analysis IV - Harmonic Analysis in IRn (Hardcover, 1992 ed.)
J. Peetre; Edited by V.P. Khavin; Contributions by Sh.A. Alimov; Edited by N.K. Nikolskii; Contributions by R.R. Ashurov, …
R2,779 Discovery Miles 27 790 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

With the groundwork laid in the first volume (EMS 15) of the Commutative Harmonic Analysis subseries of the Encyclopaedia, the present volume takes up four advanced topics in the subject: Littlewood-Paley theory for singular integrals, exceptional sets, multiple Fourier series and multiple Fourier integrals.

Commutative Harmonic Analysis, Pt. 3 - Generalized Functions, Applications (Hardcover): Viktor Petrovich Khavin, N.K. Nikolskii Commutative Harmonic Analysis, Pt. 3 - Generalized Functions, Applications (Hardcover)
Viktor Petrovich Khavin, N.K. Nikolskii; Translated by R. Cooke
R2,417 Discovery Miles 24 170 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

This EMS volume shows the great power provided by modern harmonic analysis, not only in mathematics, but also in mathematical physics and engineering. Aimed at a reader who has learned the principles of harmonic analysis, this book is intended to provide a variety of perspectives on this important classical subject. The authors have written an outstanding book which distinguishes itself by the authors' excellent expository style.
It can be useful for the expert in one area of harmonic analysis who wishes to obtain broader knowledge of other aspects of the subject and also by graduate students in other areas of mathematics who wish a general but rigorous introduction to the subject.

Treatise on the Shift Operator - Spectral Function Theory (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 1986): J. Peetre Treatise on the Shift Operator - Spectral Function Theory (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 1986)
J. Peetre; N.K. Nikolskii; Appendix by S. V. Hruscev, V.V. Peller
R2,936 Discovery Miles 29 360 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

This book is an elementary introduction to non-classical spectral theory. Mter the basic definitions and a reduction to the study of the functional model the discussion will be centered around the simplest variant of such a model which, formally speaking, comprises only the class of contraction operators with a one dimensional rank of non-unitarity (rank(I - T*T) = rank(I - TT*) = 1). The main emphasis is on the technical side of the subject, the book being mostly devoted to a development of the analytical machinery of spectral theory rather than to this discipline itself. The functional model of Sz. -Nagy and Foia re duces the study of general operators to an investigation of the . compression T=PSIK of the shift operator S, Sf = zf, onto coinvariant subspaces (i. e. subspaces in variant with respect to the adjoint shift S*). In the main body of the book (the "Lectures" in the proper meaning of the word) this operator acts on the Hardy space H2 and is itself a part of the operator of multiplication by the independent variable in the space L2 (in the case at hand L2 means L2(lf), If being the unit circle), this operator again being fundamental for classical spectral theory."
