Seismic Inversion Methods: A Practical Approach (Paperback, 1st ed. 2020): S.P. Maurya, N.P. Singh, K.H. Singh Seismic Inversion Methods: A Practical Approach (Paperback, 1st ed. 2020)
S.P. Maurya, N.P. Singh, K.H. Singh
R4,205 Discovery Miles 42 050 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book introduces readers to seismic inversion methods and their application to both synthetic and real seismic data sets. Seismic inversion methods are routinely used to estimate attributes like P-impedance, S-impedance, density, the ratio of P-wave and S-wave velocities and elastic impedances from seismic and well log data. These attributes help to understand lithology and fluid contents in the subsurface. There are several seismic inversion methods available, but their application and results differ considerably, which can lead to confusion. This book explains all popular inversion methods, discusses their mathematical backgrounds, and demonstrates their capacity to extract information from seismic reflection data. The types covered include model-based inversion, colored inversion, sparse spike inversion, band-limited inversion, simultaneous inversion, elastic impedance inversion and geostatistical inversion, which includes single-attribute analysis, multi-attribute analysis, probabilistic neural networks and multi-layer feed-forward neural networks. In addition, the book describes local and global optimization methods and their application to seismic reflection data. Given its multidisciplinary, integrated and practical approach, the book offers a valuable tool for students and young professionals, especially those affiliated with oil companies.

The changing dynamics of business worldwide have led organizations to look beyond traditional managerial practices while at the same time attempting to retain their core competitive advantages. This development has called upon academicians and practitioners alike to reassess the different aspects of business management such as macroeconomic variables, the nature of the market, the changing features of the workplace, the new work ethos, and/or employer-employee exchanges. In this context, the book provides essential insights on industry innovations, academic advances and policy movements with regard to recovering markets in India and around the globe. The individual papers highlight potential avenues that could allow industry to better understand and respond to the global crisis. The book collects research papers presented at the Global Conference on Managing in Recovering Markets (GCMRM), held in March 2014. Seven international and 120 national business schools and management universities were represented at the conference, the first in a series of 13 planned under the GCMRM agenda for 2014–17. The book includes more than 30 research papers chosen from a pool of 118 presented at the conference, all of which have undergone a rigorous blind review process.

Impact of Tuberculosis on the Quality of Life (Paperback): Meera Dhuria, Nandini Sharma, N.P. Singh Impact of Tuberculosis on the Quality of Life (Paperback)

Apart from physical symptoms, TB patients face various problems that are social and economic in nature. Therefore, for a comprehensive assessment of patients' health status, it is essential to consider the overall impact of TB on health and patients' perception of well being, besides routine clinical, radiological and bacteriological assessments.A prospective study was conducted on 90 patients of tuberculosis at 2 directly observed treatment short course (DOTS) cum microscopy centers in an urban area of Delhi. The WHOQOLBREF (Hindi) questionnaire was used to assess the QOL at the onset of treatment, after 3 months of treatment under DOTS, and at completion of treatment. Patients with tuberculosis had significantly lower mean scores than controls for overall QOL. The most affected domains were physical and psychological. Women scored significantly better than men in the physical and environmental domains. Overall QOL scores were lowest for category II and significantly lower for the psychological and social domains. The mean scores after treatment were significantly lower than controls for overall QOL, the social and environmental domains. The DOTS regimen improves the QOL and its d
