This book aims to unpack the core message of the Labour Church and
question the accepted views of the movement by pursuing an
alternative way of analysing its history, significance and meaning.
The religious influences on late-nineteenth/early-twentieth-century
British Socialism are examined and placed within a wider context,
highlighting a continuing theological imperative for the British
Labour movement. The book argues that the most distinctive feature
of the Labour Church was Theological Socialism. For its founder,
John Trevor, Theological Socialism was the literal Religion of
Socialism, a post-Christian prophecy announcing the dawn of a new
utopian era explained in terms of the Kingdom of God on earth; for
members of the Labour Church, who are referred to as Theological
Socialists, Theological Socialism was an inclusive message about
God working through the Labour movement. Challenging the
historiography and reappraising the political significance of the
Labour Church, this book will be of interest to students and
scholars researching the intersection between religion and
politics, as well as radical left history and politics more
generally.
Holy Habits is an initiative to nurture Christian discipleship. It
explores Luke's model of church found in Acts 2:42-47, identifies
ten habits and encourages the development of a way of life formed
by them. These resources, which include an introductory guide, have
been developed to help churches explore the habits in a range of
contexts and live them out in whole-life, missional discipleship.

What do traffic jams, stock market crashes, and wars have in
common? They are all explained using complexity, an unsolved puzzle
that many researchers believe is the key to predicting - and
ultimately solving-everything from terrorist attacks and pandemic
viruses right down to rush hour traffic congestion. Complexity is
considered by many to be the single most important scientific
development since general relativity and it promises to make sense
of no less than the very heart of the Universe. Using it,
scientists can find order emerging from seemingly random
interactions of all kinds, from something as simple as flipping
coins through to more challenging problems such as the patterns in
modern jazz, the growth of cancer tumours, and predicting shopping
habits.

Sci-fi action movie. When aliens invade and take over the Earth all
humanity in their path is obliterated as they gas the cities and
shoot its inhabitants. Next on the agenda for the invaders is
taking Los Angeles, the last remaining city where a few human
survivors remain in captivity. One of the captors, Jodie (Katharine
Lee McEwan), manages to break free with the help of a cowboy and a
doctor. But as she searches frantically for her missing daughter,
Jodie discovers she may be in danger from something other than the
alien invaders...
Here, from Jay Dobyns, the first federal agent to infiltrate the
inner circle of the outlaw Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, is the
inside story of the twenty-one-month operation that almost cost him
his family, his sanity, and his life.
Getting shot in the chest as a rookie agent, bartering for machine
guns, throttling down the highway at 100 mph, and responding to a
full-scale, bloody riot between the Hells Angels and their rivals,
the Mongols-these are just a few of the high-adrenaline experiences
Dobyns recounts in this action-packed, hard-to-imagine-but-true
story.
Dobyns leaves no stone of his harrowing journey unturned. At runs
and clubhouses, between rides and riots, Dobyns befriends bad-ass
bikers, meth-fueled "old ladies," gun fetishists, psycho-killer
ex-cons, and even some of the "Filthy Few"-the elite of the Hells
Angels who've committed extreme violence on behalf of their club.
Eventually, at parties staged behind heavily armed security, he
meets legendary club members such as Chuck Zito, Johnny Angel, and
the godfather of all bikers, Ralph "Sonny" Barger. To blend in with
them, he gets full-arm ink; to win their respect, he vows to prove
himself a stone-cold killer.
Hardest of all is leading a double life, which has him torn between
his devotion to his wife and children, and his pledge to become the
first federal agent ever to be "fully patched" into the Angels'
near-impregnable ranks. His act is so convincing that he comes
within a hairsbreadth of losing himself. Eventually, he realizes
that just as he's been infiltrating the Hells Angels, they've been
infiltrating him. And just as they're not all bad, he's not all
good.
Reminiscent of Donnie Brasco's uncovering of the true Mafia, this
is an eye-opening portrait of the world of bikers-the most in-depth
since Hunter Thompson's seminal work-one that fully describes the
seductive lure criminal camaraderie has for men who would otherwise
be powerless outsiders. Here is all the nihilism, hate, and
intimidation, but also the freedom-and, yes, brotherhood-of the
only truly American form of organized crime.

Holy Habits is an adventure in Christian discipleship. Inspired by
Luke's model of church found in Acts 2:42-47, it identifies ten

Bread, Sharing Resources, Serving, Eating Together, Gladness and
Generosity, Worship, Prayer and Making More Disciples. This Bible
study group material has been created to help churches and

with the Bible and live them out in whole-life, missional
discipleship.
The bestselling crime novels of New York life in the early nineties
are back. Gruff, weary, gay Brooklyn Homicide cop Doug Orlando is
facing his most terrifying case: a serial killer who leaves his
victims naked but for dozens of long, murderous needles. The
victims were last seen at No Exit, a gay club catering to the
piercing and tattooing scene. When a priest rumored to have heard
the killer's confession-and refused to reveal his identity-is found
bludgeoned before his altar, war ignites between the city's gay
community and the power elite of the Church. Orlando's search leads
him through the underside of modern, urban Catholicism to New
York's S&M playgrounds, and to a tattoo parlor that leaves its
own unique mark on its patrons. But can he solve the case before
the city burns?
LAMBDA LITERARY AWARD FINALIST FOR BEST MYSTERY The bestselling
crime novels of New York life in the early nineties are back.
Gruff, weary, gay Brooklyn Homicide cop Doug Orlando is facing his
most shocking case: Rabbi Avraham Rabowitz lay in a pool of his own
blood, a prayer shawl stuffed down his throat, and his beard shaved
off. The question for Detective Orlando isn't who hated the right
wing religious sect leader-Rabowitz had been the open enemy of
blacks, gays, pro-choice women, even fellow Jews. In a case that
moves from the depths of the ghetto to the high-rise office of a
real estate glamour-boy tycoon, the suspects come in every color
and shade of belief. And unless Orlando can defuse a ticking time
bomb of tension by nailing the killer, the melting pot of the city
is going to melt down....
