At the same time, nondemocratic trends and practices that violate human rights and equality are gaining momentum in Europe, the US and Australia. Racism, xenophobia and anti-Islamism are simultaneously becoming more open and public; they are no longer restricted to clandestine platforms but are increasingly being mainstreamed into the political programs of parties that are entering both the EU parliaments and member state legislatures. Similar developments can be seen in the US and Australia. Such transformations in societies, governments, and institutions seem to reflect a growing amnesia regarding the lessons of the two World Wars of the 20th century, and the role that Europe, the US and Australia played in developing a post-war legal framework based on a shared, if imperfect, commitment to human rights. The book presents individual national analyses to reveal an emerging trend of "crimmigration" regardless of the peculiarities of national legislatures and internal political dynamics. By collecting original contributions from scholars based in and focused on each of these regions, it addresses above all the causes and impacts of the criminalization of migration in the early 21st century. The study examines the performance of an English Language Teaching (ELT) class at the undergraduate level where Wiki (a Web 2.0 tool) has been included as an extension and support to the regular face-to-face classroom. Language teaching practices in Bangladesh are generally non-interactive and attached to the attributes of behaviorist learning theory. Language research in English-as-a-second-language has shown such learning to be insufficient and ineffective in producing competent language users. The research compares interactions, participation, and levels of reflection in face-to-face classes with that of Wiki exercises. It also investigates whether the pedagogical shift from teacher-centric learning to a self-directed environment enhances learner involvement, autonomy and creativity. The polycrystalline samples of MgCrxFe2-xO4 ferrites were prepared by the conventional solid state ceramic sintering technique in air. The x-ray diffraction patterns obtained showed sharp peaks indicating the formation of single phase cubic spinel structure. Magnetic measurements were performed in order to investigate different magnetic properties of the samples. The Curie temperature (Tc) for all the samples has been determined where the Hopkinson type of effect at Tc has been observed with the manifestation of a sharp fall in permeability. The electrical resistivity measurements have been carried out as a function of temperature. The activation energies were found to be decrease with increasing Cr content. The lower activation energies are associated with higher electrical conductivity. The AC resistivity and dielectric constant of the samples are found to decrease with increasing frequency, exhibiting normal ferromagnetic behavior. The observed variation of electrical and dielectric properties of MgCrxFe2-xO4 ferrites are explained on the basis of Fe2+/Fe3+ ionic concentration.
