A joyful family saga about free will, forgiveness, and how we are
all interconnected. In October 1989, triplet babies are born into
chaos in a Swedish hospital. Over two decades later, the siblings
are scattered around the world, barely speaking. Sebastian is in
London working for a mysterious scientific organisation and falling
in love. Clara has travelled to Easter Island to join a doomsday
cult. And the third triplet, Matilda, is in Sweden, practising
being a stepmother. Then something happens that forces them to
reunite. Their mother calls with worrying news: their father has
gone missing and she has something to tell them, a twenty-five-year
secret that will change all their lives ...

Nico is coming over to play, but Sally doesn't want him to touch
her toy squirrel. Or her train. Not her parking garage either.
Sally's mom said to put the things she doesn't want to share in the
wardrobe. As it turns out, there are quite a lot of things Sally
doesn't want to share--including her mom. This fresh and
funny approach to sharing shows just how complicated hiding all the
things you love can be. In the end, it might be easier to give
sharing a try. Maybe.
Malmoe, Sweden. A cellist meets a spun-out junkie. That could have
been me. His mind starts to glitch between his memories and the
avant-garde music he loves, and he descends into his past, hearing
all over again the chaotic song of his youth. He emerges to a
different sound, heading for a crash. From sprawling housing
projects to underground clubs and squat parties, Wretchedness is a
blistering trip through the underbelly of Europe's cities. Powered
by a furious, unpredictable beat, this is a paean to brotherhood,
to those who didn't make it however hard they fought, and a
visceral indictment of the poverty which took them.
A fresh, hilarious and compulsively readable love story with the
most wonderful kernel of truth to it. An uplifting and clever read
for fans of Graeme Simsion and Marian Keyes. Julia is looking for
Mr Right, but Ben is more Mr Right-Now-He-Could-Do-With-a-Bath..
You may think you know what kind of novel this is, but you'd be
wrong. Yes, Julia is a single-girl cliche, living alone with her
cat in Vienna and working in a language school. And yes, a series
of disastrous dates has left her despairing of ever finding The One
- until Ben sits next to her on a bench. He's tall, dark,
handsome... ...and also incredibly hairy, barefoot, a bit
ripe-smelling and of no fixed abode. You guessed it - they fall in
love, as couples in novels do. But can Julia overlook the
differences between them, abandon logic and choose with her heart?
Funny, filthy (literally) and fizzing with life - and based on a
true story! - this is the perfect antidote to all those books
promising you that Prince Charming lives in a castle.
The Nordic Research Network (NRN) began as a forum for UK- based
early career researchers to share their work with peers in a
convivial intellectual environment. As a multi-disciplinary
gathering, the regular conference provides an opportunity for
scholars in all areas of Nordic research to keep up with the
diverse subjects and projects being pursued by colleagues across
the country. The third conference was attended by researchers from
a range of British institutions and took place at UCL over two days
on the 5th and 6th of September 2013. Each year since its
inauguration, the NRN conference has grown and evolved; this marks
the first time the conference proceedings have been published. The
conference has provided many new scholars with their first
opportunity to introduce their research to the academic community.
This book, similarly, gives a number of early career researchers a
chance to see their work in print and reach a wider audience. The
papers, organised into thematic chapters, reflect and showcase the
diversity of subject areas, approaches, and methodologies of the
Nordic Studies postgraduate research community. Together, they help
illuminate larger questions of how cultural, social, and historical
identities are mediated through literature, historical narratives,
films, and architecture.

From the creative genius of Jostein Gaarder, author of modern
classic Sophie's World, comes a novel about loneliness and the
power of words Jakop is a lonely man. Divorced from his wife, with
no friends apart from his constant companion Pelle, he spends his
life attending the funerals of people he doesn't know, obscuring
his identity in a web of improbable lies. As his addiction spirals
out of control, he is forced to reconcile his love of language and
stories with the ever more urgent need for human connection. An
Unreliable Man is a moving and thought-provoking novel about
loneliness and truth, about seeking a place in the world, and about
how storytelling gives our lives meaning. Decades after his global
bestseller Sophie's World, Jostein Gaarder has written a poignant
and funny book for our times - full of life and hope. Praise for

BOOK' Daily Telegraph
In Brazil nothing is more important than football. If England is
the birthplace of football then Brazil - the five-time World Cup
winners and home of Pele, Romario, Ronaldo, Neymar and the rest -
is the heart and soul of the game. Jogo Bonito - meaning 'the
beautiful game' - takes you on a journey through the Wild West of
Brazilian football. On the way we meet an eclectic cast of
characters, such as Mario Zagallo, the four-time World Cup winner;
the long, lost son of Garrincha; Brazil's best-loved bad boy player
turned politician, Romario; and many more. We take a trip to an
away game with the country's most violent hooligans, visit the home
of the world's largest amateur football tournament and enjoy a
boozy dinner with South America's most famous commentator - he of
'goooooooool' fame. Jogo Bonito is a history, a travelogue and a
gonzo-style report into a country which has the sixth biggest
economy in the world and yet questionable records on education,
healthcare and corruption. The result is a book that not only tells
the story of Brazilian football, but also of today's Brazil.
