This book explores the regional coordination and impact of state
responses to irregular migration in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
The main argument is that regional and international trends of
securitisation and criminalisation of irregular migration, often
associated with framing the issue in terms of migrant smuggling and
human trafficking, have intensified carceral border regimes and
produced greater precarity for migrants. Bilateral and multilateral
processes of regional coordination at multiple levels of government
are analysed with a focus on the impact on asylum seekers and
migrant workers in major destination and transit countries
including Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia.
The book will be of interest to a wide academic audience interested
in the interdisciplinary field of Border Studies, as well as
general readers concerned with the treatment of refugees and
migrant workers who cross borders in search of safety, security,
and a better life.
Public Administration and Public Affairs demonstrates how to govern
efficiently, effectively, and responsibly in an age of political
corruption and crises in public finance. Providing a comprehensive,
accessible and humorous introduction to the field of Public
Administration, this text is designed specifically for those with
little to no background in the field. Now in its 13th edition, this
beloved book includes: Engaging, timely new sections designed to
make students think, such as "Why Are So Many Leaders Losers?" and
"Even Terrorists Like Good Government" Comparisons throughout of
the challenges and opportunities found in the nonprofit sector vs.
the public sector (sections such as "The Dissatisfied Bureaucrat,
the Satisfied Nonprofit Professional?") Extensive new material on
e-governance, performance management, HRM, intersectoral and
intergovernmental administration, government contracting, public
budgeting, and ethics. The 13th edition is complete with an
Instructor's Manual, Testbank, and PowerPoint slides for
instructors, as well as Learning Objectives and Self-test Questions
for students, making it the ideal primer for public
administration/management, public affairs, and nonprofit management
courses.

It has been 53 years since the death of Julius Caesar. Decimus
Flavius Antonius lay broken and near death in the forests of
western Germania. It is not long before he recalls what has
occurred... three Roman legions have been annihilated. Facing an
onslaught of barbarians, prejudices, and personal demons, Flavius
risks his career and future for a cause much more noble than
anything Rome had offered him... a promise made to a dying mother.
As his soul devours itself from within, the Roman finds himself on
a quest for the unattainable, and endures the labors required to
become worthy of the ultimate redemption.
