This book is about Americans who often go unnoticed and unnamed, who fly under the radar. As you read their personal stories, you will realize they embody the same spirit that fills the select few. Contrary to that smooth upward curve we wish for in our children, there are many paths, not all of them positive, that make life's struggle exciting and worth reading about. Their contributions to that spirit are related in these pages by the participants themselves.
Nicholas Wolf was born in Pennsylvania, grew up outside Philadelphia, and was educated at Harvard where he specialized in English literature. He studied creative writing with, among others, David Mallery, Edwin Honig, John Hawkes, and Lillian Hellman. The poetry in this volume communicates his feelings about the death of his son, the impermanence of life and relationships with those around us.
