Gruesome Illinois is a collection of true-life stories - most of
them rescued from old newspaper accounts published over 100 years
ago. Only a few of the events in this book - such as the Monmouth
Ax Murders have ever made it into print. Except maybe in musky-old
county histories. Even then, they are lucky to rate a paragraph.
Read them now, if you dare!
Read this if you want to sell more books, make more money as an
author, or rank higher in your category. My name is Nick Vulich.
The first thing you should know about me is I'm not a writer, and
I'm not an expert on self-publishing either. I never worked in the
industry, and I don't have any experience working for the big
publishers. In fact, the only thing I consider myself an expert in
is how to sell on eBay, Amazon, and Fiverr...So why should you
listen to me? Like most indie authors, I came into publishing
through the back door. I had a story to tell, and one day I just
sat down and let it all come out. What I wrote wasn't pretty, or
polished...but, it helped a lot of people sell more stuff on eBay.
What I couldn't say with fancy prose, I made up for with
enthusiasm. Because of that, my books sold. I'm not going to lie to
you. It wasn't easy. I read just about every book available on
self-publishing. I studied up on KDP Free days, Countdown Deals,
price pulsing...
Life Without the BS is a humorous look at life, marriage, kids,
education, and a few other bugaboos including politics, religion,
and sex and dating. If you've got an axe to grind against the
Obama, Hillary, Rush, or Anne Coulter--we've got you covered there,
too. I don't want to give away the farm, but here a few tastes of
what you'll find inside. Let me warn--It's finger licking good.
Once you start reading you won't want to stop. On people - As
Americans, we're guaranteed the right to "life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness." Only problem is what gets my rocks off
doesn't even register on the happiness scale for some crazy ass
bastards out there. Believe it or not, people are different, some a
little more so than others.
I've been selling online for fifteen years now. During that time
I've learned a lot about bookkeeping, business permits, and taxes.
During that same time I have saved thousands of dollars in taxes by
saving my receipts and keeping good records. And, so here's the
deal...> Did you know eBay has an app that can automatically
import all of your sales, fees, and other information and crunch
the numbers to show whether you're making a profit or loss? >
Did you know that same app will also import all of your information
from Etsy and Amazon, if you sell on those platforms? > What
would you say if I told you that you could save $500 or more on
your taxes every year just by writing down the mileage when you
head to the post office, store, or bank? > And, you'd probably
think I'd lost my marbles if I told you that you could deduct parts
of your next vacation from your taxes. The advice in this little
book can easily save you thousands of dollars every year.
Selling on eBay isn't a game. You need to have a plan. eBay 2014
walks you through what it takes to sell on eBay. It answers all of
your questions, and gives you ideas about how to get started and
grow your eBay business. Do you ever wonder how some sellers can
grow a strong thriving business, while others barely scrape by?
Many times, I've watched two sellers as they are first starting out
on eBay. Both sellers offer the exact same products and prices, yet
one business skyrockets to the top of the charts selling thousands
of items per month. The other business struggles to sell ten or
fifteen items per month. They might even have the same basic look
to their listings. On the face of it, it doesn't make sense. Why
does one eBay seller prosper, while another falls behind? Is it a
matter of luck? Does one eBay seller catch all of the breaks, while
another is stuck holding doo doo? Believe it or not, many
struggling sellers believe this. They think it's all a matter of
luck.
Bat Masterson knew better than most of his contemporaries that the
majority of what was written about the old west was little more
than rattlesnake piss and bat guano. He said, ""nerve was the
quality that marked the great gunfighters."" Perhaps more telling
is what Masterson suggested was the ""secret sauce"" that made the
big-name gunfighters so fast. ""We used to file the notch of the
hammer till the trigger would pull 'sweet' which is another way of
saying that the blame gun would pretty near go off if you looked at
it."" But, ""the real gunfighters did not file the notches off.""
They carried one gun in their hip-holster, and another ""swung
under the armpit."" It let them ""draw on an adversary while he was
waiting for the familiar motion toward the hip."" Here are the real
stories of 23 outlaws, gunfighters, and lawmen. The truth may
surprise you.
eBay, Amazon, Etsy, & Fiverr So many choices How do you decide?
Which site is right for your online business? Many books promise to
share the secrets to getting wealthy selling online. They tell you
to sell this or that product, or to try this top secret listing
method, or to sign up for this course. But, that's all they are -
promises. Sell It Online is different. It's written by a real eBay
Power Seller and Top Rated Seller. One who's been selling on eBay
and Amazon for over fifteen years. Most importantly, Sell It Online
doesn't make any crazy promises that you'll make a million dollars
overnight selling on any of these sites. It's not going to happen.
It also doesn't tell you that you can make three thousand dollars a
month following my method, because those kinds of promises don't
make sense. Anyone can make money selling online. But, you aren't
going to make a fortune following someone else's plan.
One hundred years ago Villisca, Iowa made the national spotlight
when eight people were butchered in their sleep. Attention quickly
turned to the Reverend Lyn Kelley, "a queer, strange, little
preacher man," often accused of window peeping. Kelley said he was
walking by the Moore house when a voice commanded him to, "Go in.
Slay utterly." What could he do? He climbed the stairs and
slaughtered the children. "Slay utterly. Suffer the little
children." Back downstairs, he went into the parent's bedroom.
"More work yet. There must be sacrifices of blood." Again, the ax
did its work. In another downstairs bedroom, he discovered the
Stillinger girls, asleep in their beds. "More work still." The ax
resumed its work. Eight people were dead. The ax was satisfied.
When Kelley recanted his confession, detectives developed dozens of
other suspects, but none of them panned out. The Villisca Ax
Murders remain Iowa's most famous cold-case file.
American history is full of strange paradoxes, and that's one of
the things that make it so interesting. Here's one of the 37
stories you're going to read. Imagine what it would be like to wake
up, flip on the morning news, and discover Bradley Cooper or Ashton
Kutcher assassinated President Obama. That's what happened in 1865.
People were shocked to learn John Wilkes Booth had killed President
Lincoln. Booth was one of the most popular actors of his day. At
just twenty-six years old, he was considered one of the most
attractive men in America. Booth stood five feet, 8 inches tall,
had a lean, athletic build, ivory skin, and curly, jet black hair.
Women mobbed him on and off stage. At the time he killed Lincoln,
Booth was pulling down $20,000 a year as an actor (roughly $300,000
in 2015 money). What was going on in the mind of John Wilkes Booth?
What was it that turned this mild mannered actor into one of the
most hated men of his generation?
It's not the usual boring history read. It's a fast-paced, easy to
read, behind the scenes look at the making of Iowa and Illinois
focusing on Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.
eBay Shipping Simplified covers how to package and ship the items
you sell. It's pretty easy stuff once you understand it, but it
comes with a lot of rules, options, and other bugaboos. You may be
asking yourself, * Do I need to offer free shipping? * What if my
package gets lost or damaged in the mail? * Do I really need to
fill out all of these forms just to ship my item to Canada? It's
nerve wracking. It's confusing, and it seems like there's never
anyone there to help when you've got questions. eBay Shipping
Simplified will walk you hand-in-hand through domestic and
international shipping.
